Hanshin sits at 3–1 and is currently on a three-game winning streak after dropping the opener. Both starting pitchers are making their NPB debuts, so there’s some uncertainty, but considering the early-season form and overall depth, the edge goes to the Tigers.

Messick has also allowed a high number of runs in Spring Training, and the Dodgers lineup is unlikely to let that slide.

The Mariners’ lineup since Opening Day has been heavily home run-dependent — essentially a high-risk, high-reward offense. The opener was a perfect example: they struggled to string hits together, with all four of their runs coming via solo home runs, and just six hits overall.

In contrast, the Guardians clearly have the edge in overall team completeness right now. On top of that, their starter Cecconi has looked sharp throughout Spring Training and appears to be in strong form.

Given these factors, I’m going against the odds here and backing Cleveland.

In Cubs vs Yankees, Cabrera is coming off an 8-run meltdown against the D-backs, and Gerrit Cole has had limited appearances in recent years due to injuries. With Cole still easing back and Cabrera showing instability, the Over 11.5 looks like the right angle here.

In Rockies vs Tigers, it’s a veteran matchup between Sugano and Verlander. Both rely more on pitching finesse than overpowering stuff, but their home run rates are relatively high and neither is the type to dominate purely with a four-seamer. That makes this another strong Over 11.5 spot.

Grant Holmes looks to be in excellent form, continuing his scoreless run this spring training while allowing hardly any hits.
Cam Booser struggled last season with the White Sox, posting a 5.52 ERA, so the edge here goes naturally to the Braves.

For the Red Sox, Ranger Suárez will be making his first appearance since the WBC. I’m expecting an ace-level performance from him.

Glasnow experimented a lot with his breaking pitches this spring, but yesterday he said he focused more on sequencing and getting hitters out efficiently.

Sasaki has also been working primarily with his two-seamer throughout spring training, but with a rotation spot essentially locked in, expect him to prioritize sequencing today as well.

With Muncy and Freeland out from yesterday’s lineup, Espinal and Rojas step in as starters today.

This is pretty much the best lineup they can put out right now. Let’s go Dodgers!

George Klassen is a rookie who is projected to be part of the Angels’ rotation, featuring a 100 mph four-seam fastball along with a diverse arsenal including a changeup.

However, looking at the Dodgers and this lineup right before Opening Day, it’s hard to go against them. Neto and Trout haven’t been hitting as well as expected during Spring Training, so here I’ll side with the Dodgers without going against the odds.
