Jules-Géraud Saliège, Archbishop of Toulouse, was one of the most courageous voices in the French Catholic Church during the Second World War.
In August 1942 he issued a powerful pastoral letter condemning the deportation of Jews, openly defying Vichy and Nazi policy. His words reverberated across France, galvanising public opinion and strengthening resistance within the Church.
Through his moral leadership and quiet support for rescue networks, Archbishop Saliège helped save many lives.
A true hero of conscience.
Will you remember him?
