@supreme_ld @JamesWHankins1 Same question for you as for Dr. Hankins: do you have any scientific evidence that "they aren't assimilating," or is this a general impression?

[Raphael @Raphael86429108]

@JamesWHankins1 Boustan and Abramitsky are drawing on many millions of data points from census records, tax records, longitudinal studies of linguistic change and more. It is possible to study assimilation in a scientific way, and there is an evidence-rich literature on it.

@JamesWHankins1 "Like the other measures of social and cultural assimilation..., we find that intermarriage raets for first-generation immigrants are strikingly similar in the past and present... if anything, marriage rates imply that cultural assimilation is faster now than it was in the past."

[Raphael @Raphael86429108]

@JamesWHankins1 It has been tested statistically by Abramitsky and Boustan, using a variety of metrics, economic, political, linguistic and more. If you haven't read their book, you should. I'm looking for the book now and will share details when i find it.

@JamesWHankins1 "meant to comprehend, within the mantle of it’s protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mahometan, the Hindoo and infidel of every denomination."

[Raphael @Raphael86429108]

@JamesWHankins1 as quickly and completely as the Irish, Italians, and Eastern European Jews did 100 years ago. It seems like you are making sweeping policy arguments on the basis of flimsy anecdotal evidence and vague, prejudiced impressions.

@simon_schama What percentage of the Palestinians would have to die for you to call it a genocide?

@jk_rowling @SkyDalby37773 @beanschicken1 By the time they're 20, their dysphoria is all the worse because they've gone through puberty. You're depicting this as a simple black-and-white issue, when it really isn't. It is complicated. To date, you've said nothing of value to trans youth or their parents.

[Raphael @Raphael86429108]

@jk_rowling @SkyDalby37773 @beanschicken1 This can happen before they develop the secondary sex characteristics they don't want. Hence the medical interventions you oppose. This is a very difficult issue for the families of trans youth, and your only response is be, "tough luck. Wait and hope it resolves on its own."
