Some progress on art. Upgraded to Unity 6.3 and I love the result I get from Light Probes!
I am very happy with the Polyart asset packs, with some tweaks I get the look I want. What do you think about my village so far?

@dparente Would like to see if I can get some likes from this art update of my solo project The Beast Within.
Working hard towards first demo.

to avoid too much weirdness my game design allows me to avoid combat near the intersections in most cases, but as you can see in the video above, even the worst case is not too bad, and can be tweaked for a more smooth transition across links.
#indiegame#unity#navmesh
Navmesh on large terrains is no joke in Unityπ I found a workaround that seems to give good results, so thought I'd share for anyone interested - seems like something many people are struggling with.
This is a worst case - a 4-way intersection between navmeshes
Solution - I am dividing my large terrain into a grid of 100x100m navmesh sectors, enabling and disabling by distance to player, and then dynamically creating links every one meter along the edges.
Managed to create a screendoor dither transparency for my trees and implement a simple minimap. No more getting lost in the woods π²π

@BokehDev Stunning! very charming art style - Is there a name for this interesting mix of 2d art in a 3d space? I have seen something along these lines before, but your version feels even more pushed. I particularly enjoy the semi-realistic water and the material contrast it provides
@REPLACEDGame Holy s**t! Hadn't seen this before. The art style and atmosphere is wonderful. It is not often that something so fresh and unique comes along.
Looking forward to the release :)
