Nos períodos de calor temos de estar atentos as pessoas dependentes - arrefecer o ambiente, assegurar que se hidratam. Ter em atenção os que têm mais do que um cuidador - a importância de monitorizar a ingestão de líquidos (àgua, sumos).
Nos períodos de maior calor: manter janelas/portas e cortinas fechadas enquanto temperatura exterior for superior à interior e abrir quando ocorrer o inverso (habitualmente à noite - cuidado com a segurança); manter-se à sombra
Perante calor extremo estão em maior risco as pessoas que: têm mais de 65 anos; doentes; não conseguem ajustar o comportamento perante o risco (doença mental, alcoolismo, crianças, acamados…); vivem ou trabalhem em condições de sobre-exposição ao calor
Todos os anos há um excesso de mortalidade associado a temperaturas extremas no verão. Temos de atender aos cuidados individuais, mas está tb na altura de atender às condições de habitação e ao cuidado das pessoas mais dependentes.
