I watched the Lily Phillips documentary because plenty of people were talking about it but very few mentioned what was in it.

She's young.

She's just a year or two older than my son and so I can kind of relate what it's like to having a child that age and how their brains work.

This young lady is absolutely and utterly lost in the undertoe of a life she probably didn't see for herself.

When you're at the beach and you get caught in a rip, the advice is always to go with it and it will pop you back up.

I think that's where this young lady is right now... The undertoe and the rip have her, she's going with it, but she has absolutely no idea where it's going to resurface her.

When you watch that documentary, you don't need to have a great deal of understanding in human psychology to see she's expending extraordinary effort to convince herself that it's all fun.

"I was shagging lots of people anyway for fun, so why not get enough money to buy a round of drinks or two out of it."

That's a level of justification one makes when they don't even believe themselves anymore and can't really appreciate what's happened.

Here's what I think happened: she liked the "easy" money at first and then she enjoyed the infamy on the internet. Now she has a staff of 8 people, is making seven figures a year, and her body and brain are on autopilot.

She's making bigger and bigger challenges to "feel" like she has a goal. She's trying to trick herself into a purpose.

But when you watch her talk before the event, in the days and weeks leading up, you could see the veneer of faux confidence.

I think everything that happened in the immediate aftermath with the tears and whatnot can be dismissed, although it's highly dramatic to zoom in on her shedding tears.

The telling things were the days and weeks leading up to it and the bold announcements of having sex with 1000 men in 24 hours in February - this is just her psyching herself up to keep going.

I don't "feel bad" for her. I empathize with a young woman who is completely in over her head having made decisions and taken on responsibilities she can't seem to escape from.

What she needs is rather than her parents "supporting" her with platitudes like, "We love you unconditionally", they need to start asking her what her exit strategy for this is - how much money does she need to make to retire, what financial plans has she enacted, how does she make sure she's sticking to her goals?

Notionally, as a parent your first instinct would be "How do I stop her from making these mistakes right now?" but the reality is, she's more akin to a drug addict and you need to manage her safely out of this and set her up for a different path.

It's a very sobering story, the documentary is worth watching.

@HistorietaLa En el caso q expones (donde el problema es la suciedad) al de tu sexo, que eres el/la adult@ que no debe entrar en el baño del otro sexo. Si generalmente están + asquerosos los de hombres, señalad públicamente y entre vosotros vuestras miserias y contribuid a que mejoren.
