Empowering change begins now #HamOnt
“If you don’t want permanent tiny shelters, build housing and redesign the shelter system.”

“The process borders on cruel and insulting”
Absolutely.
I was expecting better. https://t.co/L5uN6Q1FjJ
Safer use spaces in shelter was to be addressed at this meeting. This is important. People are dying and will continue to die until shelter providers are held accountable to implement evidence-based solutions, including safer use spaces and other harm reduction measures.
7.) While I recognize how complex this is, including questions of operation & location, time is of the essence; time is a luxury councillors may have, but time is not a luxury most afforded to those at serious risk. We need to work with the solutions available now. #Hamont
1.) What is also pertinent for the public to understand is that Hamilton Alliance Tiny Shelters is proposing its initiative as a 3-YEAR PILOT PLAN. HATS is working to coincide with the city's initiative to end homelessness by 2025. #HamOnt
6.) Deferring is no longer leadership that will yield solutions; not going forward can be far more harmful because we have no imminent solutions in site. #HamOnt
1.) I am both a supporter and volunteer for The Hamilton Alliance Tiny Shelters. In addition, I have attended Hamilton Emergency & Community Services Committee meetings with our new council. #HamOnt
6.) Communication & direction between council to staff are creating stagnation in this project moving forward. I appreciated Clr. Wilson's work to ensure we press on with HATS. If we want to progress, we have to be willing to have imaginative, out-of-the-box solutions #Hamont
10.) This is a community of educated, skilled & qualified people working together to help Hamilton in the homelessness crisis, which is only continuing to worsen. And now, we are again deferred to a later date that intentional leadership could have prevented. #HamOnt
9.) Things such as onsite job opportunities/harm reduction/security etc. The support from many not-for-profit sectors, people with lived experience & current homeless folks who are doing the work are rallying behind are offering their services to make this project successful.
