The U.S. tax system is based on citizenship rather than fiscal residence, so Americans abroad still owe U.S. tax on cap gains.
Most other countries (eg Germany) tax based on residence, not citizenship. So Germans (or other non-Us persons) that are fiscal residents in NL are not taxed on capital gains
@itsolelehmann@art_is_art Spain tax system is very aggressive and Spaniards are very hostile to entrepreneurs and wealthy people. It’s a country where lifestyle and “work-life balance” are the priority, mediocrity is rewarded and excellence is punished.
@itsolelehmann Spain is very startup unfriendly, tax authorities are very aggressive and general population dislikes entrepreneurs and wealthy people. Nice for vacationing or to stay for a few years if you don’t have wealth to protect and you are not the ambitious type
@jsrmalvarez@Magicalspain It’s not really true. In Italy wine is perferred - but it’s not that people are having a Vega-Sicilia for the aperitivo. Youngsters will get together and drink very cheap prosecco or wine-based drinks like spritz, americano and a long etcétera just like spaniards have a beer.
@bankless@RyanSAdams This is pathetic. You are basically trying to copy bitcoin narratives (“digital gold”, “1 eth = 1 eth”). Only fools will fall for it.
@plur_daddy@dcinvestor Unfortunately I had this experience myself… a couple of years ago I was overweight BTC and I decided to got 50/50 BTC and ETH….
I did nothing and for some reason I’m again very overweight BTC
@barackomaba@BitcoinErrorLog You can use cBTC collateral on AAVE. It’s backed by Coinbase’s Bitcoin and it’s permissionless, the closest you can get to native btc on eth. It can be argued that both Ethereum and Coinbase are “too big too fail”
Nassim is a serial flip-flopper. He used to be a deadlift maxi and long steady state cardio denier, and now he is a zone2, cycling maxi.
He is very talented at taking others people’s ideas, put them together and tell a cohesive and coherent story in a very compelling way. That’s awesome. But he thinks he is much more intelligent than he is.
