A theme quietly building in 2026:
INR weakness + Yuan appreciation + Import Substitution.
The Chinese Yuan has appreciated nearly 20% against the INR over the last year, creating a reasonably meaningful shift in competitiveness if it sustains.
The market seems to be noticing.
The Nifty India Manufacturing Index is outperforming Nifty this year by a wide margin.
The logic is straightforward:
• A weaker rupee makes Indian exports more competitive globally. • A stronger yuan makes Chinese imports relatively more expensive. • Domestic manufacturers gain from import substitution. • Earnings often follow currency-driven competitiveness with a lag.
We've seen similar setups in previous cycles where currencies did the heavy lifting before profits and stock prices caught up.
Could manufacturing—particularly exporters and import-substitution beneficiaries—turn out to be this cycle's biggest surprise?

The recent decoupling of Metro Lines 2A and 7 has caused massive daily inconvenience, forcing thousands of East-West commuters into a chaotic, time-consuming transfer at Dahisar East.
MMRDA should run at least every alternate train on the old, continuous loop

@SunilBSinghania@ECISVEEP@RavindraWaikar@AmolGKirtikar On the contrary, if one had gone to vote after 5pm then voting would have been done within 5-10 mins. While it took me 2 hours to vote in the morning my wife did the voting in evening within just 10 mins...
I have finally found the solution to HDFC Bank's margin issue:
Everytime analysts ask the management of HDFC Bank:
You had 4.3 pct NIM before the merger. You merged with HDFC ltd ( which had NIM of some 2.7 pct) and now your combined NIM is 3.6 pct. How will you improve yr margin.
I suggest HDFC Bank change their name to HDFC Ltd. Now the company can say to analysts:
We had margin of 2.7 pct previously. Due to merger with HDFC Bank we have been able to increase our NIM to 3.6 pct.
Analyst: Congratulations on this phenomenal improvement in performance where u have been able to significantly increase your NIM in such a short period.
Note: Interested, last 3 yrs tested and invested.
India's successful lunar mission (landing its Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft on the moon) is another one of many straws in the wind showing its ascendence. As previously shown in my health index for countries, which is used to derive my projections for countries' next 10-year growth rates, India scores on top with a projected growth rate over the next 10 years of about 7%. It has the right mix of ingredients that shows that it has great potential and the right leadership to catalyze it. It reminds me a lot of China in 1984 (when I first went) around the time Deng Xiaoping made his reform and opening up policies that catalyzed China. Congratulations India!
Overnight developments in US banking: markets, analysts, investors underestimate the importance of financial stability for the balance sheet of a bank. When interest rates move up 500 bps from zero in a year, an accident was waiting to happen somewhere.
