Today is a very significant day in RLS History as after over 14 years, we have said our heartfelt goodbyes to our outstanding Headteacher, Mr Hudson.
The end of the most amazing era...
Mr Hudson will be our Headteacher until 31/8 but today was our day to say goodbye.
This evening, we hosted our very first Year 10 and Year 12 Celebration Evening 🏆 It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate students who best exemplify the Hatton Character Qualities. #teamhatton
Sorry this is embarrassing for the guardian and cynics commenting below.
(I was on the guardian board for 9 years and they are investors in founders factory so I get disappointed by the energy they spend on partisan baseless attacks like this article).
There really is nothing to see here. And lots more important issues in the world…
Zero chance Sunak did the future fund because of minority investments from his wife’s fund.
She invested in U.K. cos to support founders and now all this cynicism is the British response.
The future fund matching mechanic meant automatic funding if matched AND shared risk (ie private sector wouldn’t fund if they didn’t have a good level of belief in the co).
Author also doesn’t qualify ONLY around 10 percent have failed which is strong result so far for the future fund. As fund has equity stakes in around 50 percent of cos that have raised follow on funding and have potential to make multiples of on that capital and hence more than compensate for loan losses. Power law dynamics of vc.
Would the guardian and labour prefer the chancellor had done nothing ? Most leading economies had support methods (less well structured than this) AND labour gov wisely supported the future fund at the time.
How would these cynics suggest their bizarre conflict of interest accusations could be avoided - by disallowing Akshay Murty cos from accessing future fund (noting she was a minority investor thus penalising the companies and other larger investors …)
The fund backed a huge amount of companies, so the fact that four were also backed by Akshata is not unusual for a prolific U.K. tech investor. The extra point is these were gov funds seeking a return ….
@carolvorders do you really believe the cynical motivations you imply?
It was a pleasure to hear our amazing young woman at our We Can Do It event speak so passionately. They truly are an inspiration to us all. #proud#notconfinedtoboxes
Four main thoughts as we wrap another of the craziest days in memory (03.10.23):
1) If, by Monday, there is no announcement that all SVB deposits are safe and will be recoverable, next week will be catastrophic for the global economy. All bank accounts above the FDIC-insured $250K limit will be considered unsafe. There will be a run on all banks save for perhaps the top few U.S. banks.
2) Because of the above, I fully expect there to be an announcement from a combination of the federal government, federal reserve, and major banks, that all SVB depositors will be made whole. The effects of this not happening are too crippling.
3) Every affected company should be thinking creatively about the worst-case-scenario that those funds with SVB, beyond the $250K FDIC-insured (and hopefully more uninsured) deposits that become available on Monday, are not recoverable for a while. Many companies are already exploring creative options with debt facilities and equity financings. Many of us VCs are doing work in the background (along with law firms) to figure out the best way we can help to make sure that our portfolio companies can make payroll and other key obligations in the short term. The only real longer-term solution, though, is the funds being recovered.
4) There will be many operational hurdles in the coming weeks for many people and businesses. Everyone -- seriously, everyone -- will need to have a little extra empathy, kindness, and grace to get through this time period. Payments will be delayed. Work will get bottlenecked. Certain people will be more affected than others. But we'll get through it. Take care and stay calm.

@PassportAlerts plea for help. Qualified Dental surgeons unable to log into the @RCSnews website that keeps on crashing so no one is able to fill in the application forms!?? Can you pls help with something similar?
@RCSnews But how do we complete our LDS applications as nothing is loading? This happened last time as well. Should have a system in place in a year to not let it happen again. Just so frustrating to waste year after year for it to end up randomly ballot system.

Wow - you have my full sympathy. My sister in law has been trying all day. You should all get together and write to your MP’s and to the Health Secretary that such incompetence should have repercussions on this institution. This is totally unacceptable.
@RCSnews@RishiSunak This is the situation with RCS while conducting Dental Exams. Waiting for years to even get a seat in an exam and there is no system in place. Have been refreshing their website since 12:00 noon. Have been almost 8 hrs now with no luck. Something needs to be done.
📻💥Delighted to report the audience for my LBC show is growing - and fast! In just 3 months, ‘Sangita Myska on @LBC’ 1-4pm Saturday & Sunday is up 10% to a whopping 445,000 listeners. Thanks to everyone who tunes-in, @catrionabeck & Alex C. Onward & upward @AramintaParker! 🚀
@SangitaMyska just saw this on YouTube. You re a legend - so professionally handled and so calm. Jerry - what a prxxxck. If he represents the average Tory…
Shortly after Jerry called me @LBC we went to an advert break. I’d be lying if I said dealing with racism and bigotry doesn’t take its toll on PoC. It does. Luckily my producer @catrionabeck had my back. PS.I’m in full recovery mode, at home, with most English dish of all: curry
