My message is, if you're having sleep problems I feel bad for you son. I had 99 problems but the C-Pap wasn't 1... hit me!! But frfr, go to an ENT doctor as well as a sleep doctor. You may need surgery instead of a sleep machine. #SleepStudy
I had an obstructed (right) nostril the whole time and no breathing machine of any kind would've helped me. Only surgery to open a pathway for oxygen (which has been completed). I'm just apalled as to how a sleep study would be conducted without checking ear, nose and throat.
Thank God for radio advertisement. I heard about an ENT (ear, nose, throat) facility and made an appointment online. Had no expectations. Was down to my last hope. And within 5 minutes of being there, they told/showed me what the real issue was. #SleepStudy
They labeled the condition what we all know to be "Sleep Apnea" based on my sleeping and breathing only. I used the C-Pap machine for 2 years and still felt tired EVERYDAY shortly after waking up. The machine never flagged the doctors about anything. #SleepStudy
At the point I was prescribed the C-Pap, no ear, nose and throat observations were made or even questioned. Even considering how expensive the C-Pap is, and how ineffective it was in me achieving the amount needed to use it on my medical insurance (4 hours). #SleepStudy
After obtaining a minimal sample size (because I was sleeping in a weird ass bed) they determined *surprise* that I do snore, and that I stop breathing multiple times. So I was prescribed the C-Pap machine. #SleepStudy
The "sleep doctors" didn't check my ear, nose or throat. Didn't even ask about my day-to-day breathing. They just hooked wires up to my head and chest. #SleepStudy
I told the "sleep doctor" my symptoms and they scheduled me a sleep study based solely on what I told them. Even their questions were based on what I had already informed them of.
Some people request a sleep study simply because they snore. Some because they stop breathing in their sleep. Others because no matter how much they sleep, they don't feel restored at all. I was all 3.
