Vaping isn't safer than cigarettes. Same poison, different slimy package.
Popcorn lung is real. It destroys the tiny airways in your lungs. The same chemical that caused it in popcorn factories is found in flavored vapes.
Nicotine chokes blood vess...
The vaping timeline is a case study in how regulators can turn a public health opportunity into a public health mess.
📅 2007: E-cigarettes arrive in the U.S.
📅 2015: Youth vaping ~3.5 million
📅 2016: FDA Deeming Rule treats low-risk vaping products like cigarettes.
📅 2019: FDA ignores black-market THC products during the EVALI panic while headlines blame "vaping."
📅 2020: Flavor bans and restrictions push consumers toward illicit products.
📅 2021-2026: Millions of PMTA applications rejected, while cigarettes remain widely available.
The result?
➡️ Millions of Americans now wrongly believe vaping is as harmful—or more harmful—than smoking.
➡️ Adult smokers face fewer legal options.
➡️ The illegal market explodes.
➡️ Cigarettes remain the leading cause of preventable death.
Harm reduction was simple: help smokers switch to lower-risk alternatives.
Instead, the @US_FDA spent a decade regulating vaping as if it were the problem rather than the solution.

@RTENewsPaulC@EithneDodd@rtenews Yeah no, so many factual errors and missing information, you have to wonder if Prof Wally has the slightst clue what he is talking about.
Asertions without evidence can be dismised without evidence.
@Alan_Beard1 100% deliberate, Gov are ramming a nicotine product bill through and this is an effort to muster suport for the proposed ban on pouches. Shame on @Denproud for adding to Prof Wallys crusading, then again her degree is from Uni of bath, so theirs that.
Sweden became the first country to reach the smokefree goal of under 5% smoking prevelence. Snus was the diference, you have to ask why the anti smoking people are determined to ban this option as the did in EU, leaving the EU lagging behind as it struggles with a 24% prevelence
@rtenews First these products are nicoyine pouches, shus is ilegal, secong they do not have more nicotine than a cigarette, that lie is a revived trope of the anti vaping morons. Third, the evidence says these products are as safe as NRT which old wally would insist is safe and effective
@MeghanEMurphy Enjoys and wants to are not synomins, sex workers are workers, not all workers enjoy the job but they do do them. Respect to workers of any kind, better pay and conditions are what wanted and enjoyed.
Rohan Pike talks at #GFN26 about the disastrous results of ecig prohibition in Australia:
- weekly drive by shootings
- hundreds of firebombings
- 20 illicit stores in 1km in his hometown
- criminal networks are now expanding to alcohol sales
@ItsTaz1989 Another reason is access to shelf space, general stores have limited space and it tends to get dominated by big tobacco products, due to the distribution system. Independent manufactures need independent outlets.
Beyond money laundering, I'm not particularly sure why vape shops exist. Can't vape stuff just be sold in corner shops like cigarettes? Or in tobacconists? I've never vaped. Not really sure what it entails. But shops just for vaping seem commercially superfluous.
Marina Murphy from @HayppGroup presents data on what UK participants did after the ban on disposable e-cigarettes.
8% stopped vaping, but 41% of those 8% went back to smoking.
Remember that only a small increase in smoking can undermine any health gains. #GFN26
