That lower number does not contradict common ancestry or evolutionary theory but affirms it. Humans are still far more similar to chimps than to any other living species, the differences fit the expected divergence time, and multiple independent lines of evidence (fossils, shared endogenous retroviruses, chromosome structure, etc.) continue to support close relatedness.

Speciation has been observed dozens of times (lab + wild: polyploid plants, finches, flies, mosquitoes, etc.). Higher ranks like “genus” or “family” are just human labels for accumulated divergence over deep time, not sudden jumps we should witness in real time.

Evolution is falsifiable (e.g. rabbits in the Precambrian) and repeatedly tested. Calling it a “scavenger hunt” ignores the predictive power of genetics, fossils, and experiment.

But obviously you will ignore any and all evidence presented, even if you personally witnessed it because it goes against your book that you made your whole identity about.
