@GregDaly@sentantiq So you state a position, contradict that position, deny contradicting that position, and accuse those who point it out as having poor reading skills?
@AndrewPaulWood@BretDevereaux Yes, but that’s not the question. The question is whether a piece of evidence is valid or not. We’re not asking whether Zeus exists. We’re asking whether having cult is evidence for existence.
@kyk1opes@BretDevereaux The Iliad is not fiction. Why is this so hard for people to grasp? AFAIK, people of Homer’s time did not have a *concept* of fiction.
@AndrewPaulWood@BretDevereaux Okay, that wasn’t quite honest. I have an idea of what you *might* be talking about, but that would mean that you’re INCREDIBLY STUPID, and I don’t want to make that claim yet.
@AndrewPaulWood@BretDevereaux Yes, *multiple* points. So each point of evidence is evaluated independently. You give as evidence against Achilles’ existence the fact that he does not have cult. Which means that the fact that Zeus has cult is evidence for his existence.
There’s literally no way around this.
@montecarlo51362@TwinkRegimer >*translating robot* 🤖 : « I don’t want to look idiotic so I’m asking the other guy to find specific quotes in thousands of pages on commonly known things »
Oooooh. Okay. Well, at least you’re honest. Thanks.
