@endertwelve I’m still thinking about it as well. Maybe it’s where Curtis’s mind is? Seeing all those historical disaster references playing on TV, making him staying out of the play, because Curtis himself is a father worrying about his missing daughter amidst horrible weather?
Digger starts with a shadow (‘Fossil Fools’ play) then it steps back to show the cave with leaky ceiling (the theater where the play is being rehearsed) THEN it steps back yet again to show the man holding a torch…
Every layer of the movie is packed with message, and it gives you a feast for thought; what do you think Maggie represents? Is she the Mother Nature Digger is holding onto after slowly killing her with his own selfish needs for her presence? Is she the representation of Digger Rockwell’s last shred of humanity, which died long ago but he held onto it believing he still ‘has it in him’, even after she turned into ash? Is it merely a plot device within the play to show that Digger also was a man who was capable of showing empty and love?
Was Kenny a good person? Is he playing god himself for Curtis when Hope was lost? Is art and creation of art absurd and meaningless? Should we just stop making art altogether because it doesn’t solve anything in the real world? Should art have more meaning than the mere fact that it was made by humans? Is the exchange of our thoughts meaningless if it doesn’t lead to action?
The movie is extremely thought provoking, and that’s why i see Digger the best movie of the century.
… and there are people who cannot see past the shadow of the movie and jumps up and down that this movie is climate change satire, and refused to engage in any meaningful discussion. What a sad time to live in😔
In #Digger … Was this shadow scene representing Plato’s allegory of the cave?
Is the Fossil Fools the mere shadow of actual history?
The shadow made by the flames of the torch the Rockwells been passing down, painting the perception of reality in front of everyone’s eyes?
The torch that supplies freedom to bask in their manufactured unsustainable lifestyle, whether it might be for comfort provided by oil, or safety provided by mass surveillance?
So nobody want to leave the cave, looking to regain autonomy of their own freedom, even as their ‘cave’ is drowning due to the remnants of disaster caused by their inaction?
@VCLittleFlower Oh interesting I went to watch today! But wasn’t there coffee room & the leaky resting room on the same floor where Digger looked down on the riots happening on the ground floor? It seemed at least a couple stories high
I was seated a bit towards the back right side of the theater (for my 7th watch lol)…… then I realized that the clock ticking sound during the first Emma scene was actually a sound of water dropping from the leaky ceiling of the theater… the sound was coming from back right corner of the theater with an ambient echo, as if I was actually seated in and watching this ‘rehearsal’ of Fossil Fools…
Incredible sound work😵💫
I do think Kenny has some part in the disconnection of the communication with Hope, abusing his power to manipulate Curtis into play his Uncle Digger more in depth, then to play god by finding Hope back when Curtis did his part on the stage.
Kenny always stands way too close to door or curtain, which i think is to show much just of a creep he really is. Always lurking in the background (you can also see him behind a curtain when Doug puts on the oxygen mask and tells Curtis that he doesn’t want to fight with Hannah) Given Digger knew about President’s cancer even before his wife did, i think the Rockwells might have had surveillance technology for a while—Kenny knew and/or heard Hope was on a flight when there was a typhoon when he visited Curtis’s dressing room.
I think he could have cut the communication or intentionally delayed recovery of it before Curtis was going into the private jet scene, preaching Dr. Ganesh about faith in the higher power (the way he practices Digger’s line in the dressing room after hearing about Hope not arriving at the airport… it gets me every time😭) Just like Digger who gets into worse and worse situations as the play goes, Curtis also gets into deeper despair and helplessness. Then Kenny asks for Hope’s number—Curtis, out of option and out of desperation, hands over her number. (I also thought the way devices connects to one another almost seemed like Curtis putting his hands over Kenny’s) I think Kenny already knew her number. He was asking for Curtis’s faith. Act of showing his faith was plenty for him to show his mercy. Then (as i wrote already) right before Digger dies, Kenny (or the information Kenny shared with someone else) takes Curtis out from Digger. The body of Digger dies without the sin, while the Curtis who had shown faith in higher power gets to ascend.
Kenny insists he didn’t do anything, that he just found Hope… But if anything happens to Hope without any way for Curtis to reach her, guess who he is going to kneel before to show his faith.
Kenny is portraying himself as ‘the higher power’ in real world that can bring Hope back when Curtis showed his trust.
Kenny calls Curtis “Mr. Rockwell” to calm him down when he gets upset that Kenny eavesdropped his phone call—Kenny is calling Digger Rockwell within Curtis who has faith in the higher power.
“Her number is plenty”—sharing a small piece of personal information with a stranger. That’s a faith, because that’s the only option Curtis has left. And Kenny returns his faith, after Digger kneels and prays.
He saves Curtis from the death of Digger Rockwell by calling Curtis, making him glance at the audience before taking the call—literally detaching the actor from the play. Kenny ascends Curtis, while he lets his Uncle Digger die with the sins of the world, along with the satisfied audiences.
Skydance execs arrived Tuesday at their new Warner Bros offices, opened the books and "were shocked to learn the extent of the loss" on DIGGER: $250M — double what was being reported (via @TheWrap)

@KingAriPress It seems to me that the director saw outside the cave and sharing what he saw with everyone… though a different shadows on our cave wall😭some loves it, and some hates it🥹
@DimAthanitis It’s so easy to forget the power of sound, the vibration shaking your entire body when you watch movie at theater🙏 that’s why i love going to cinema!! Digger is just perfect masterpiece i can enjoy every day if i get the chance to😭🧡
