Every parent with a kid under 15 should do whatever it takes to get them to read Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson.
Not because of the eventual lore, but purely because it showcases so clearly there's no rules to life, it's just as cool to not fit in. Be curious, do what you love. Curiosity —> Awesome childhood experiences —> High Agency.
Jobs' interests (Curiosity) by the time he was in high school had spanned:
•Hardware and electronics
•Composting
•Lasers
•Math and science
•Weeds, Hash and LSD
•Music and counterculture
•And a wicked taste for pranks
Which led to (Awesome childhood experiences) things like:
•Filtering through the phone book and calling Bill Hewlett (the H in HP), to ask for a few spare parts for a personal project he was working on. Not only getting those, but also being offered a job at an HP factory. As a 12 year old.
Steve Wozniak curiosity led him to build
building
•an intercom system featuring amplifiers, relays, lights and buzzers that connected the bedrooms of kids across 6 houses in the neighbourhood. As a 10 year old.
•and then build a high school competition winning calculator with 100 transistors, 200 diodes and 200 resistors on 10 circuit boards. As an 8th grader.
Their combined curiosity for pranks and electronics brought them to build a digital tone generator that could fool phone networks into allowing long distance calls to go through for free.
Which led to them prank calling the pope in the Vatican pretending to be Henry Kissinger (Awesome childhood experiences) lmao, but more importantly, building out "The Blue Box".
The first ever product built and sold by the Steves, resulting in the inception of one of the most remarkable duo’s in the history of the world. (Highest Agency)
We’re barely taught about Muhammad Ali Jinnah during chapters on independence in high school.
Super curious if people in Pakistan are thought about Mahatma Gandhi during theirs?
