There’s a trend on social media about rejecting minimalism and embracing traditional beauty in architecture and art (I’m all about it)

All of the comments to my post here are talking, as expected, of idolatry, vain buildings, ‘God hates this’, etc, per the usual script

I utterly reject iconoclasm for this reason, not just as a heresy, but as a philosophical and societal construct.

The chief reasons buildings and art are ugly today are because of the downstream effects of iconoclasm.

When you reject making beautiful things for God, who we owe the highest level of worship & duty towards, what comes downstream from that is a rejection of making beautiful things for each other and ourselves.

When God is only granted a plain white wall and a projector screen, well, logically, why should libraries and office buildings get better treatment than that?

There are a lot of great Boomers out there. But they didn't build this country into a superpower.
