Maafi Gandhi has done it again. I think it is for the second or third time that he has apologised in courts. Had he not apologised what would have happened? Probably he could be sent to jail for a few months but definitely not to the dreaded Kala pani of yore.
@sardesairajdeep A recusal has to be done by the judge concerned only. Any other judge can not pass a judgement that such and such should recuse. What a baseless and foolish argument is that and coming from someone who puts up a demeanour of being the most experienced journalist.
New ICMR study warns that Indians having more carbs and less protein is fueling a surge in metabolic disorders (Obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and strokes).
So, the Protein-Jeets were right all along? Only partially. They haven't quite grasped the problem or solution correctly.
First, the PROBLEM:
Indians (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian) are having roughly 62% of their daily calories from carbs. That's high. By how much? around 12%. Carbs should be roughly half your diet (i.e. 50%). (including sugar which should not exceed 5%).
But it's important where the rest of your calories come from. fats: 25-30%, *protein*: 20% and fibre: 3-6%.
Do these percentages appear confusing? I am with you on that. But the wonderful scientists at ICMR have broken it down for us and given us a SOLUTION:
For vegetarians: reduce (not necessarily by too much) cereal intake (roti, rice), increase plant protein intake (pulses and legumes like dal, chickpeas, beans), increase fermented diary intake (dahi/ cheese) in every meal.
For non-vegetarians: same advice as for vegetarian + option of egg/fish once a day. *Red meat/poultry not recommended because of high fat content messing up the calorie proportions.
Now once you get your ideal ratio right, you've dramatically improved your health prospects. But there's a catch and your health is still potentially vulnerable. To make your diet truly ideal for great health and quality of life, you need to improve the quality of the carbs you're consuming. Most of our cereal intake constitutes low quality carb meaning carbs that get absorbed quickly in the upper digestive tract itself i.e. of high GI (glycemic index) and hence leave us feeling hungry more often leading us to overeat. We need slow carbs meaning carbs that take their sweet time flowing down our digestive tracts before getting fully absorbed. Problem is almost all cereal is low quality carb. Refined grains like rice are obviously low-quality carb with high GI. But even whole grains we consume like wheat or even millets lose their quality because we tend to consume them after they're pounded into a fine flour that modifies their structure and turn them into quick absorption/ high GI food. What's the solution? Gradually replace low quality carbs with high quality carbs/slow carbs: whole grains (cooked whole or coarsely grounded), fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, legumes.
Needless to say, Daily exercise is important to control weight and improve overall metabolic health.

P.S.: If you're a vegan and feel left out by ICMR, I understand.
@ANI One other ex CM confident that article 370 could not be touched even threatened that if even if clause 35A was removed the hands of those who would do so will burn and there would no one to hold Tiranga in the valley.
@ANI Today the hon’able Supreme Court has confirmed that the decision to remove was taken by correct constitutional means. On my recent visit to Srinagar it was heart warming to see Tiranga not only in Lal chowk but on numerous electric poles around Srinagar

@AamAadmiParty These so called educated duffers do not understand the difference between a river and an irrigation canal .Both the canals have total capacity of 23000 Cusecs and have to be isolated automatically when such volumes of water have to be discharged.
@AamAadmiParty This Anarchist and incompetent party has been ruling Delhi for nine years and at every failure they instead of thinking of mitigation they only spend their time to start blaming someone or the other.
@KapilMishra_IND One thought that he was only an anarchist. But it comes out now that he is a corrupt scamster too. This is an apt case of a wolf in sheeps clothing .
Within seconds, the train starts 2 move. As we walk the coaches to get to our seat, we notice the train is quite empty despite being fully booked. Anxious families rue those of their relatives left behind due to the blockades. got very lucky, but the relief is bittersweet. END
