@educationgovuk Dear DOE, your government have done so many U turns, just admit that VAT on independent education is a complete ideological mess and reverse course before you cause any more damage to both state and independent schools.
@DPJHodges Starmer managed to mention renters rights, breakfast clubs and plenty in between , none of which he was asked about..that said I think Farage has had a poor couple of day. I've always voted Tory and as things stand will still do so as I think Kemi would be the better PM.
@Red65Dave@CharlesHThyme Red Dave is Pro EU, sure he'd be delighted if we rejoined the EU and education tax has to be scrapped..might have to close a few breakfast clubs that my taxes are paying for..
@bphillipsonMP Still not free at my grandsons prep school, and the fees went up when Vat was added to fund additional 6,500 state school teachers. Given overall teacher numbers are down surely we're due a refund ?
@lukeakehurst So you tax the hell out of business , realise you screwed up then offer a sweetener funded from that tax grab.
Struggling businesses won't recruit , living wage + employers cost is over £20k so £3k won't do much.
Unfreeze personal allowances to get consumers able to spend more.
@23abs_@SkyCricket Just read on BBC that Bashir will play so between Baker and Atkinson. Might be good to get Baker in at deep end to try and put his white ball debut behind him..but...Atkinson would lengthen the tail so anyone's guess.
@DrHoenderkamp She was the only member of Starmer's first cabinet that was privately educated so can't see Burnham liking that, TBF I'd rather her than Reeves or Milliband
@JohnSlinger Reality:
Said he would freeze council tax - he hasn't
Said he would reduce energy bills by £300 - he hasn't.
Said he was pro business and growth - increased cost of employment.
And on and on..
At least he promised to destroy private schools so he must be pleased with progress
@suttontrust@ucl Dear "Trust" lots of feedback on here about your "study" some say "disingenuous", "nonsense" and many more. I'll add my own , let's say "bollocks". Can you address some of the feedback, challenge us, enlighten us... we'll wait.
@MikeTappTweets What the public are beginning to notice is that our taxes (well those of us that pay them) are pissed off by MP's that seem to be spending all day on X either saying how well you are doing (which you're not) and dissing other parties.
The "knuckle draggers" are ahead in the polls
@Disc_light@TrisOsborneMP Yeh but no but yeh but...energy cap going up, inflation going higher and interest rates going to rise..not sure who tells these labour MP's what to post on X
@TorstenBell Typical analysis from someone with no real world commercial experience.
Tries to justify higher taxes, higher interest debt, higher spend.
Easy when you legislate for your income, more difficult when you actually have to earn it.
Cut tax rates to grow the economy, debt will fall.
@MatthewStadlen Matt, would I be crazy to think that Kemi may well be the next non labour PM.
I've always voted Tory and would probably have gone reform but we don't need a soap opera and I'll stick to the Tories. I wonder if they could be largest party in 2029..
With Labour you can have 120% but it might well be 120% of fuck all, but don't worry state handouts will keep you in the basics.
With Reform you can have 90% of something if you work for it.
Think I'd go for the 90% of something..
@TrisOsborneMP "slashed" doing a bit of heavy lifting there Tris !
As per our exchange last week it would be great if you could slash VAT on education..
