If an athlete has school and private training, Championship season is not the time for coaching ego/pride. This is a critical time period. Trade that for selfless partnership. Figure out who can do what.
If you’re on the private side, remember that the HS coach gets them first and fresh. When in doubt, choose rest on your end. The more competent the HS coach, the more comfortable you should be in choosing rest.
If you’re on the HS side and you know the private side has been very impactful but you want the athlete to do something at school, reach out to the private coach and ask what they recommend the athlete does at school. The more competent the private coach, the more comfortable you should be in seeking their recommendation.
Put the athlete first and good luck!
Matthew 28:5-6a: The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.
All praises be to the King of kings, and the the Lord of lords ... He is wonderful!
Happy Resurrection Day!
@FloTrack If 2 of her MVA HS teammates tested positive and her coach at MVA has been sanctioned, how does her HS 200m indoor national record stay on the books? MVA also has relay records that need to come down as well.
@MidTnAthletics@Tier1athlete The kids who medal during the freshman events at NB, Nike , and Adidas also call themselves All Americans. Embellishment is spreading like wild fire.
@travismillerx13 When did it become fashionable to let runners pass on the inside in a track event? I've been seeing it a lot. Maybe no one coaches this generation to never allow it ... backed up with a sharp elbow or being pressed completely off the track
Congrats to my track son Basileus Oshegbo (McDonogh) who set a new PR of 6.45 seconds (US #2 among freshmen) in the 55m to finish 3rd at MIAA Indoor Champs. Ran anchor leg for the gold medal winning 4x200m relay (1:30.19 - Champs record) @SunVarsity @dmvtrackhub @MilesplitMD
Congrats to my track son Kyle Rollins (McDonogh) on winning the MIAA Indoor 60m championship title in 6.39 seconds (US#27) and 4x200m relay lead off for his championship record setting 1:30.19 squad. @AllBannerSports@SunVarsity@MilesplitMD@MileSplitDMV @dmvtrackhub
@I_Coach_Speed Some coaches lose focus on the main goal of helping kids get better. They will want cut or punish kids that want to work with other coaches, even when there’s clearly a benefit from the work being done.
Congrats to my track sons Basileus Oshegbo (left) and Kyle Rollins (right), who along with McDonogh teammates Jamel Stephens & CJ Davis, posted a school record of 1:30.34 in the 4x200m relay. @MileSplitDMV@MilesplitMD@SunVarsity@BaltCoSunSports
@mattfreeman05_ The defense stopped the forward progress on the receiver and drove him backwards long before the lateral was made. The play should have been whistled dead before the TD.
Congrats to my track son Vance Harris (Archbishop Carroll) on new PR lbs of 6’ 10.5” in the High Jump & 22’ 9.25” in the Long Jump while winning both events at the Liberty Invitational meet. @MileSplitDMV@MileSplitDC@WashPostHS@DyeStat@CitiusMag@flosports
