The #STLCards avoided the sweep with a 5-3 win over Texas behind 5.2 strong innings from Andre Pallante and a three-RBI night from Alec Burleson.
Jordan Walker had three hits and scored three runs, Nelson Velázquez kept contributing, and the bullpen held late.
A needed reset before the off day.

#GoBirds Memphis put on a show earlier today, routing Louisville 18-4 behind four home runs.
Joshua Báez stayed red hot with his 17th HR, giving him six homers in his last eight games. He’s now slashing .262/.342/.573 with 42 RBI and sits tied for second in Triple-A homers.
I watched the game, I hope someone else besides me in St. Louis was watching. #STLCar
#STLCards - Won-Bin Chom, who was named the Midwest League Player of the Week for May 26–31, 2026, and recognized as The Cardinal Nation May 2026 Player of the Month, gives the Chiefs the lead.
#STLCards Andre Pallante was dealing tonight.
5.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER — exactly the kind of gritty, tone-setting start that St. Louis needed while trying to salvage this one.
Now let's finish it off and put this game in the win column.
JJ Wetherholt is out of the lineup tonight because reports say he's a little beat up in the lower half, but two off days should help and the #STLCards expect him back in the lineup Friday.
Over his last 13 games: .302/.362/.396 with a HR, 2 SB and 7 runs.
Two days off may be exactly what Wetherholt needs — because when he’s right, he changes the look of that lineup.
I’m with this.
Nelson Velazquez has done enough to stay in the mix for now. The roster math is messy, but I’d rather see the #STLCards option Gorman, but I could live with Fermin being DFA and give Blaze a look before I would punt on Nelson this quickly.
Getting the math to math for Blaze to fit on the roster isn’t very clean without Gorm being optioned or Fermin DFA’d (which the latter I’d be good with). But even then, the return of Noot/Urias/Church complicates the mix.

Torres
(This would mean optioning Saggese, VS2 and DFAing Fermin).
Either need to option Torres or DFA Nelson to fit him.
I’d be down to rip the bandaid off now (DFA Fermin), give Blaze some run until Urias is back, and then see how guys are playing then and make a decision.
The easier option is to swap him for Torres but I’d like to see him stick for now. Not married to Nelson but he’s been helpful so far so it would feel weird to punt already.
Even with the speed and defense, Victor Scott II is only making two or three putouts a game. That doesn’t come close to carrying this level of offensive production.
The glove has value. The speed has value. But neither justifies keeping a bat this light on a big-league roster.

Heard my friend @kyler416 on his podcast ask about Victor Scott II's ranks in this category.
Among 99 left-handed hitters with at least 700 PA since the start of the 2024 season, Scott ranks:
97th in BA
98th in OBP
Last in SLG
Last in wRC+
90th in fWAR

This starting lineup for the Peoria Chiefs offers a strong balance of elite on-base skills, recent power surges, and an intriguing pitching option.
Jack Gurevitch leads off after a recent power surge, with Josh Kross, Jalin Flores, Won-Bin Cho, and José Suárez giving the Chiefs plenty of run-producing potential through the middle.
Ty Van Dyke, his stock is rising, gets the ball, bringing that heavy ground-ball profile to the mound.

Of course, the issue is, where would he play every day, you don't call him up to ride the bench. I know what I would do, but Bloom isn't calling me either.
#STLCards - "Since my phone still ain’t ringing, I assume it’s still ain't you."
Joshua Báez is doing everything he can. Over his last 8 games: .432, 6 HR, 2 triples, 3 doubles, 14 RBI.
At some point, that phone has to start ringing.
OF Joshua Báez (AAA) continues his hot streak with his 17th HR of the season! 🔥
Over his last 8 games (including his first 3 AB today), Báez is hitting .432 (16-for-37) with 6 HR, two triples, 3 doubles & 14 RBI.
#STLCards Nootbaar looks good on the basepaths, he almost beat out an infield single in his next at bat, and was running the bases yesterday, rounding third and scoring as if he's very close to being 100%.
That April 26 Seattle game still feels like the turning point.
Since then: 13 games, 13.0 IP, 12 ER, 9 BB, 8.31 ERA.
I don’t put all of that on one decision but asking him to chase a five-out save, a move I wouldn't have made, that night sure looks like where things started to unravel.
