UPDATE: Uganda has called upon coffee traders and investors in the United Kingdom to visit the country and explore opportunities in the coffee value chain and tourism sector.
Mr. Robert Mwesigwa Rukaari, who welcomed the coffee farmers and traders in the United Kingdom, said Uganda is uniquely positioned as a land-linked and not land-locked country due to its geographical location and connection to other African countries.
“Uganda is land-linked and not land-locked because of its geographical location and its connection to other African countries,” he said.
He made the remarks at a Coffee Cupping event organised to commemorate World Coffee Day, led by prominent coffee entrepreneur Nelson Tugume.
Rukaari also highlighted Uganda’s major tourist attractions, including the Bwindi Mountain Gorillas, the numerous National Parks, the Source of the Nile – where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were scattered – and the welcoming nature of Ugandans.
The event was attended by Mrs. Nina Mbabazi Rukikaire, First Secretary, Patricia Kabuleeta and officials from the Uganda High Commission in the UK led by High Commissioner Senabulya, Karuletwa and Mrs. Philip Rukikaire.
The Coffee Cupping was held in commemoration of World Coffee Day and was led by Nelson Tugume in partnership with the Uganda High Commission in the UK.
It should be noted that Uganda exports 7.6 million bags of coffee annually, supporting over 13 million households. The UK imports coffee worth Shs1.41 billion every year.
Uganda is Africa’s leading coffee exporter and the world’s seventh largest producer, with the sector remaining a key foreign exchange earner for the country.

Belated birthday blessings shared with Kamara Byaruhanga and his cousin Sammy Kato. 23 years ago, I chaired the wedding of Kamara's parents, Peace and Moses Byaruhanga. Today, Kamara, 22, is set to graduate as a medical doctor. Wishing both young men God's continued blessings.
Plant a tree. 🌳
Eleven years ago, our family planted trees at Chobe Lodge. Today, even three years after Mzee Rukaari's passing, they stand tall—a living reminder that trees can become a lasting legacy.
Mzee's mark lives on in Nwoya, Acholi sub-region.
God bless Uganda. 🇺🇬
