“Do we really accept that, as black people, we are somehow less human and inferior?

Accepting it is not simply a matter of saying “yes.” No one will ask you that question directly. You can even say “no,” but if you behave in the very ways that brought us to the kind of history we have lived through, then, in reality, you have accepted it. You have diminished yourself. And your actions become the evidence. The evidence is in doing the very things that others did, or in trying to justify them with explanations that should never be accepted.

There are no two ways about it. Good politics and a good ideology produce positive outcomes. Bad outcomes come from bad ideas. You do not need any other evidence.

Many of you are still young. You go abroad to study. Under normal circumstances, there is nothing they know that you cannot also learn. But you can come back having absorbed ideas without questions, ideas that take you away from who you are and try to turn you into something else, something that is not yours.

Whether those ideas are good or bad, there is one illness I do not think we will cure anytime soon: when, in your own mind, you stop being yourself and begin wishing you were somebody else. Why would you want to become someone else? To achieve what? In our own history, with everything we have been through, that is exactly how we lost our way.

The conversation around AI is rapidly shifting from what is possible to what is deployable.

Today’s discussion explored the realities of building AI systems that can operate in enterprise environments, where 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁, 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

I definitely saw this in the last few days I spent in Kigali.

Trust = Consistency x Time

Consistency in execution
Consistency in proactiveness
Consistency in messaging
Consistency in competence

What's particularly interesting in Rwanda is that this consistency comes with a positive "sense of urgency".

Folks are looking to remove barriers and genuinely make things work with a fire I haven't yet seen in many jurisdictions.

Needless to say, I leave Rwanda hopeful.

Over the past few days, Otic Group had the privilege of participating in the @inclusIFF 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗶, a global gathering of regulators, financial institutions, investors, and technology leaders working to define the next chapter of financial systems worldwide.

Representing @OticRwanda_ our team led by @RayRwema joined conversations exploring the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence in finance and how emerging technologies are beginning to reshape the core infrastructure on which modern financial ecosystems operate.

Across three days of dialogue, one theme became increasingly clear. The future of fintech will extend far beyond expanding financial access.

It will be defined by the emergence of 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀. Systems capable of transforming vast volumes of operational data into real-time insight. Enabling more precise risk analysis, more inclusive credit frameworks, and financial operations that are faster, smarter, and more resilient.

These conversations closely mirror the work we continue to advance at Otic. From AI capacity development and talent enablement, to the deployment of agentic AI-driven enterprise systems designed to help organizations convert operational data into actionable intelligence.

Because as financial systems continue to evolve, the real transformation will not simply come from adopting new technologies.

It will come from building institutions capable of 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 with them.
