My mum wheeled me around in a pram campaigning for Labour in the 1950s, I have worked and supported the party ever since, yet Andy Burnham is happy that I and other members should be ignored as he steals Starmer's job through a plot hatched last year. How do you justify that @andyburnham?
All those Labour MPs will cheer the achievements of this Labour Government led by Keir Starmer having plotted his overthrow. What hypocrisy that will be!
Burnham must either deny the plot for him to replace Starmer was hatched last year, or explain why party members have been excluded from the process. Perhaps he needs to explain both!
complete piffle! Do you not trust the members to make a decision? Do you not think Keir Starmer has been doing a good job? We worked hard to get Labour a mandate with Sir Keir Starmer, you are giving that mandate to Burnham, who audaciously presents it as something new! It is a disgrace. We know the plot has been going on since early last year at the least. You all stood by and watched Keir Starmer being attacked by the Rightwing media.
It becomes clear that the plot against Starmer was hatched last year, not as a reaction to poor midterm election results, and that Labour party members are being excluded from any decision. Little wonder then that Starmer has been left undefended by Labour MPs as they stood aside watching the rightwing media tear chunks out of the PM. They did the minimum to put the case for the government, while feeding stories to the media. I have only one thing to say to them: they are a disgrace.
Have you noticed how all those hailed as being potential candidates to replace Keir Starmer have gone silent? Shush, let's not say anything...people might demand an election!
There are just over 400 Labour MPs. Yet, none of them are deemed capable of being leader of their party, so they arranged for a Mayor to become MP and PM. What does that tell us about the parliamentary Labour Party?
So answer me this, Labour Party, have there been any meetings of CLPs to discuss the change of Leadership? Labour MPs tell me this: what have you done to consult with your local members about the Leadership of the party? Did you hold meetings, and if so with whom? Many Labours members feel betrayed and disregarded. Come on, tell us what you are doing to justify it?
The Labour Party website front page says "Stay up to date with the leadership election" What leadership election? Unless the Labour MPs nominate candidates there won't be one; and even if there was, there is little time to organise hustings. So, let me give the update here: Burnham will be your leader and PM. You are simpy asked to suck that up and behave yourselves.
Imagine this; Burnham arrives to a fanfare at the Labour party conference, as they cheer the successes of the Labour government led by...boring Keir Starmer! Irony? Hypocrisy?
Boris Johnson, the highwire act, fell because he lied and cheated; Truss fell because she wrecked the economy, Rishi Sunak lost the general election. Keir Starmer fell because he was boringly getting on with the job! Burnham says he offers something new but won't put that to his own party, let alone the voters in a general election. But, of course, he isn't, because he is simply picking up the Labour manifesto. Labour members demand a say.
@HeatherJLpals A new way of doing things? Yes, avoid an election by the members of your party, adopt the ideas of the man you plotted to remoe, and suggest it is 'new'. Carpet bagger.
