@JHWeissmann I live in suburban Chicago and I walk to work everyday:

5/8 mi to train station
1/2 mi from Union Station to office
9/10 mi to grocery store for daily lunch.

This all adds up to a smidge above 2 miles. Round trip, I walk just over 4 miles per day.
