Players that we’ve been linked with like Diomande, Wharton, Sangare/Camara, Kayode, would do well under Iraola’s style too. Let’s see how the summer goes. #LFC
An exciting appointment. Moreso than others because of *how* he plays football and his understanding of how to platform players, both young and in their prime. Now they need to go out and find the right profiles to fit his style. #LFC
Hope Jones sees the development of Scott at Bournemouth and sticks around. He can be the biggest beneficiary at #LFC from this appointment. Think we need around 4/5 first team players to challenge next season. RB, CB, DM, CM, LW, RW could all be reasonably upgraded. #LFC
If FSG wanted to add another club in their football portfolio, there are so many distressed assets like this out there when you also factor in the 777 group of clubs. #LFC
I mean this as a compliment, but Arsenal over the past ~2 yrs have morphed into the modern day version of those Mourinho-coached Chelsea sides from the mid 2000s who conceded 15 and 22 goals in 05 and 06
Iraola, Hoeneß will be the front runners for the job for obvious reasons (punching above their weight class being the primary one imo). Nagelsmann and Enrique is who we should be breaking the bank for though. #LFC
Hopefully he’s remembered for that first season as opposed to his last. He struck gold with some of the platforming he did of Salah, TAA, Gravenberch particularly. Still think he can be an amazing manager if he goes back to the drawing board on his defensive tactics. #LFC
Liverpool FC can confirm Arne Slot is to depart his role as head coach with immediate effect and that the process to appoint a successor is under way.
He leaves with a Premier League title to his name and our deepest gratitude and appreciation.
For the final time. ❤️
Salah's journey at Anfield comes to an end - the only three-time winner of the PFA Players' Player of the Year.
All the best, Mo. 👑
Football data editor at Opta, @michael_reid11: "We obviously have data for all the Premier League era, so from 1992-93 onwards, but Salah's records were so ridiculous that we realised we had to go beyond that. The amount of times we were doing stats and you'd try to put other players up on a leaderboard but Salah would be just there ahead of them. It would be just impossible to get a table where Salah wasn't above this player because he was so multifaceted. What we tried to do was get maybe two or three Salah records or stats lined up before every game. He got to a point where every time he gets a goal or assist, there's some sort of record he's breaking."
Farewell to Mohamed Salah.
A faintly ridiculous 193 goals and 93 assists in the Premier League. 286 goal involvements in 327 appearances — a record surpassed only by Alan Shearer (324) and Wayne Rooney (311), both of whom made at least 100 more appearances.
The only player to have been named PFA Player of the Year three times.
One of English football’s greatest imports and Africa’s greatest exports. A phenomenon #LFC
