Because there's slow burn and then there's just... slow. The difference is tension. Every scene has to feel like something is building, even when nothing is happening on the surface. I need to know who's doing it right.

This is something I think about a lot. There's a version of romantic tension where the prose does all the heavy lifting — the yearning, the charged silence, the way someone's hands look in lamplight and the actual physical contact stays restrained. Is that more or less satisfying to you than open door?

Why does almost every fantasy romance take place in a medieval setting?
Genuine question. There's this entire gorgeous Edwardian era sitting right there — corsets and calling cards and rigid propriety — and almost nobody is using it for romantasy. The tension practically writes itself.
