🎞️ Gif Construction set went from 1.x to 2.0 between April'98 and Jan'99. So that helps create an upper bound date. If loaded in 1.0, you see it contains the original file names for each frame!

🔎 When you find an old image, check the metadata! GIF89a has comment and application "extension blocks" that can help date them. Here we see it was made with Gif Construction set 1.x, and the authors name.
