Ukraine Defense Support is bringing the internationally recognized Bring Kids Back teddy bear exhibit to Washington state. You may  remember international news coverage of the moving exhibit last spring where it debuted at the U.S. Capitol during the Ukraine Action Summit.
The exhibit, created by scores of volunteers with the nonprofit @razomforukraine for Ukraine and the American Coalition for Ukraine, consists of 20,000 little teddy bears, representing the more than 20,000 children kidnapped by russia, tucked into more than 200 feet of fencing. UDS is bringing it to Washington's Capitol Olympia on Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 10 am - 5 pm. Please join us there to honor the children who must be returned to their families.

Since the full-scale invasion began, Russia has earned more than $1 trillion from its fossil-fuel exports. The Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act (SRIA) would make the 5 largest buyers of Russian oil and gas choose between normal access to the American market or continuing to finance Russia’s war machine. There is no ethical consumption of Russian oil.

First and foremost, SRIA is a sanctions bill. It imposes powerful measures against Russian officials, oligarchs, banks, state-controlled companies, military suppliers, energy interests, and the shadow fleet it uses to bypass existing sanctions. The bill also tightens restrictions on investment in Russia, financial transactions, and sanctions evasion.

Blocking the SRIA is not merely blocking tariffs. It's blocking a pro-Ukraine bill—and sanctions on the people and institutions sustaining Russia’s war. Think about it: sanctions inside Russia will not be enough if foreign buyers can continue replenishing the Kremlin’s coffers by buying Russian oil and gas. The tariffs reinforce the broader sanctions by targeting the 5 largest purchasers of Russian oil and gas, and the countries helping Moscow evade international restrictions.

The Senate passed the same package last month by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 86–11. The House must act quickly. The congressional calendar is closing, Russia’s bombardment of Ukraine is intensifying, winter is approaching, and Ukrainian officials warn that Moscow is preparing to mobilize hundreds of thousands of additional troops. No bill is perfect, but Ukraine needs help now.
