Also Mark's stance that Luke was always hopeful and never gave up is not entirely correct and when he's admitted to not having watched the originals in 30 years the rose tinted glasses are firmly on.

He also wanted Luke to turn into Godzilla in TLJ so, maybe not the best judge..
