Trump's Plan, a Trap for Pakistan
The strategic decisions are not based on a diplomatic level understanding of the complex Geo-strategic realities.
The majority of the countries involved in Trump's plan have already integrated into the regional order, having full Israeli fusion. They have economic ties; some export oil, others import Gas. Some even have security ties that include intelligence sharing, arms and ammunition trade. Those who don't share the direct link are indirectly linked under the IMEC framework.
Pakistan and Indonesia differ from the rest in several ways. Two significant aspects are that neither has diplomatic ties with Israel yet, and both are extra-regional countries.
Now, when it comes to Indonesia, it has been negotiating with Trump over the Abraham Accords for the last several years; the recent speech of the Indonesian President hints at near normalisation between the two countries. It could be exploring this opportunity to pave the way for normalisation, one of the reasons why it overstretched over the issue and offered 20,000 troops.
For Pakistan, this isn't the case. One of the reasons behind the serious backlash is the lack of clarity and flawed thought process involved. If this isn't the road that leads to normalization or integration, then why is Pakistan committing to a plan which largely favours Israel and undermines Pakistan's historical position on Palestine?
Keep in mind, Pakistan, being part of BRI with CPEC as its node, is a direct competitor of IMEC. Not to mention the historic security ties between India and Israel.
Pakistan's commitment to Palestine and the Palestinian cause isn't subject to what other countries, including its allies, say. It is based on its foreign policy foundations, grounded in the right of self-determination and decolonialism.
The death and starvation enabled by the Colonial thought process can't be stopped by enabling a direct colonial mechanism under Trump or Tony Blair. A Plan that directly contradicts the foundations of Pakistan's Foreign policy towards Palestine.
Nevertheless, despite all interdependence, this hasn't helped any of the regional countries to exert enough pressure on Israel to stop the genocide in Gaza. Most they got was dropping a few airdrops.
So Pakistan committing to a plan that has serious structural flaws and a lack of commitment from Palestinians suggests this isn't an ill-thought-out policy but a strategic blunder that will haunt Pakistan and these leaders for decades to come.
For any state, the moral high ground is an integral element of any Counter-Terrorism drive; it requires a steadfast commitment to human rights, the rule of law, and ethical boundaries defining the rules of engagement.
Absence of these elements blurs the lines between the two sides. Censorship and paid propaganda can create an illusion of progress, but it doesn't lead to real solutions. Clarity in the streets is as necessary as the clarity in the corridors of Power.
The story of collateral damage doesn’t end with a strike. It actually begins with it, a cycle of resentment and radicalization. This undermines the state's legitimacy and moral authority.
Failing to take responsibility for unforgivable actions only reveals a lack of genuine accountability, a refusal to confront the truth, and a denial of the need for reform.
The Intelligentsia, particularly Pakistani and Kashmiri, have tragically fallen short in effectively raising awareness about the looming and stark reality in Jammu and Kashmir. There is a pressing need to recognize and urgently address the ongoing efforts by India to impose a settler-colonial model in the region, akin to Israel’s expansionist policies. This model of displacement, demographic alteration, and the systemic erasure of indigenous populations is not a distant threat, but a tangible reality that is unfolding right before our eyes. The silence on this matter, whether by design or due to a lack of foresight, has allowed the Indian government to push forward with policies that aim to alter the region’s demographic and political landscape permanently.
The failure of the intelligentsia to catalyze meaningful discourse, raise awareness, and push for global intervention has only worsened the suffering of the Kashmiri people. The window to prevent irreversible damage is closing rapidly. Unless the intelligentsia and political leaders step up with a sense of urgency, the region may soon be irreparably lost to hegemonic designs.
It's appalling how Israel managed to end the UNRWA project in Gaza based on the propaganda of Hamas infiltration. Later denied aid on the pretext of Hamas stealing it, but Hamas's own Head Yahya Sinwar hadn’t eaten for 3 days before the assassination, as per the autopsy report.
Anyone who thinks that Muslim countries do not have enough diplomatic, economic and political leverage to stop the genocide in Gaza is ignorant of the global realities. The regimes haven't even comprehensively exerted diplomatic pressure, let alone exploring other avenues.
Testimonies of Bedouin families, who just been released from captivity, are just horrific. They were subjected to starvation, humiliation, and beatings. Some speak of executions carried out by Druze armed groups, and even the killing of children.
