We responded to a plea from a home owner, who found this baby under a wood pile, after hearing cries in his backyard💔
We rushed to pick him up and took him to the vet just now.

The cold does not pass. It stays, biting deeper each night. We burn scraps of wood just to keep our hands moving. We stand for hours in water lines, and the little money we hold cannot feed both our children and the cats who look at us with trust and hunger.
I look into my family’s tired, worried eyes and wish I had more than empty words to offer. Our cats tremble nearby, searching for warmth that no longer exists. My hands shake from exhaustion, my pockets are empty, and my heart breaks each day I fail to give even the smallest comfort.

A volunteer writes: Twistyfig came to the Care Center ready to make the most of it, happily accepting and leaning into pets as he greeted us with his friendly and open heart. Maybe shelter life didn't turn out to be what Twistyfig expected, or maybe it's just really, really hard. Whatever combination of factors it was, Twistyfig's approach to shelter life has changed considerably. He still wants to engage with us, albeit differently and with a couple of caveats. Mostly Twistyfig wants everything to go his way and honestly, I completely get it. He actually waits for his way to happen sitting on top of his little cubby with bright eyes and outstretched paws and when it inevitably doesn't, Twistyfig quickly asks for some space. We can understand that shelter life is quite a shift since Twistyfig came to us from a home with many other cats and maybe hasn't had as many opportunities to meet new people as other cats have had. We know that a second chance with a patient and loving forever family who wants to learn about his way will be just the right fit for this very special guy. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

their cries were softer than the world around them.
