Apparently I wanna sperg about the Bible today.

First of all, Deuteronomy gives explicit rules for kings. For when Israel is ruled by a king.

Secondly, the issue in 1 Samuel is that the Israelites ask for a king like all the other nations, rejecting God. David became king after and was a good king, surpassed only by God's Son who is King over all the earth.

Thirdly, the rule of the "constitutional republic" during the judges time had disastrous consequences for the Israelites. "Every man was doing what was right in his own eyes." They're constantly infighting and worshipping false gods.

You can disagree with the idea that Monarchy is a good form of government without using bad biblical examples.
