married for more than twenty years, mother to many and friend to all (if I let you in my circle). I love sports, singing, dancing, and especially my me time.
A longtime, caring voice for the voiceless has passed.
Senator Shirley Kitchen served the people of North Philadelphia in the Third District in the Pennsylvania Senate for 20 years, and she was a powerful, effective advocate for her constituents and for all of Philadelphia.
Food insecurity, health care, public transportation, restorative justice, voting rights - Senator Kitchen was always on the front lines on important issues, fighting for people who often had no one else to fight for them.
Senator Kitchen was the second Black woman to serve in the State Senate, and she was a trailblazer and role model for people like myself.
Shirley Kitchen cared about working people, and she cared about Philadelphia. She will be deeply missed. My prayers are with her and her family and friends today.
Essence Fest, you all certainly showed up tonight! I had such a great time chatting with @KekePalmer about my book #TheLook, this next chapter in my life, our journeys as Black women, and so much more. Thanks so much for all the love!
And for those who couldn’t make it to New Orleans — can’t wait for you to catch our conversation soon on @imopodcasts!

Young queen building an empire! 👏🏾👏🏾
Barack and I had so much fun reading Where the Wild Things Are – a family favorite – in the new Chicago Public Library branch at the Obama Presidential Center. Check it out! 📚
Barack: You told me all those years ago that you couldn’t promise me the world, but you could promise me an interesting life. Of course, you outdid yourself and managed to give me both.
Eight years in the crucible, and not once did you melt from the heat. Not once did you let it harden you. Instead, you used it to reveal your truest essence: your stubborn optimism and unflinching courage, your dazzling brilliance and unpretentious decency, your ferocious work ethic and absolutely unshakable moral fiber.
BREAKING: In a stunning moment, Charles Barkley just came out in support of Josh Shapiro and Wes Moore to fight back against Donald Trump. This is awesome.
Keshia Knight Pulliam, best known as Rudy Huxtable from The Cosby Show, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Spelman College in 2001.
While actively continuing her acting career, she balanced the demands of fame with the rigors of college life at the prestigious HBCU. She also became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority during her time there.
A strong example of prioritizing long-term personal growth alongside early success. Respect to Keshia for showing it’s possible to do both. 👏🏾🎓
