We need to identify burnout earlier.
In issue 6 of READ BEFORE BURNING, I explain why that's so important, present the results of my research study into early warning signs of #burnout, and discuss how we might use those signs effectively.

DFAT has now confirmed Australians and others have been abused by Israeli authorities after their abduction from the flotilla.
Assaulted and injured. Deprived of sleep and medication. Still illegally detained.
The PM and Foreign Minister must urgently demand their safe release.
🔴 11 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a bakery in the Nassr neighborhood, west of Gaza City. Gaza’s Civil Defense said the strike hit the bakery and a nearby tent — and killed a group of civilians — including children.
➤ The attack came a day after Israeli officials, in remarks carried by the state broadcaster, announced they would restrict aid to northern Gaza’s 800,000+ residents as a tool of pressure to force displacement.
It's now been confirmed: Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahhawi was assassinated in an IDF airstrike on Sana'a two days ago.
He was killed alongside a number of state ministers during what Yemen's presidential office says was a routine government workshop.
@jono_nath@GuardianAus Factual statements can be misleading headlines. When a guy murders a former partner, many media organisations still run headlines of “Man pleaded for more time with kids”. That may be true, but it’s not an explanation for the violence — yet too many people accept it as one.
@jono_nath@GuardianAus Summarising an article like this as “attacker had a history of mental illness” leaves people thinking that it’s an answer to a question, but that’s only true if you assume that people with mental illness are naturally dangerous.
@jono_nath@GuardianAus There are always a variety of factors contributing to the incident. The kid was expelled in year 7; what effects did that have? The article repeats speculation about behaviour consistent with autism, but says he was never assessed for autism. Why not, if signs were there?
Even when attending a wedding (circa 1990) Pratchetts will always look slightly scruffy. Not my colour, not his suit, but we’re both looking at the camera. Albeit in a slightly bemused way. He would’ve been 76 today. GNU Dad. Happy Birthday. #Speakhisname#TerryPratchettDay ❤️
