@aridlizzy @snetzel3 I think this is a good example of authorial intent, which is important part of media criticism.

Most action flicks like that are intended to serve as a display of impressive stunts and choreography, not a way to tell a deep meaningful narratives, which give them a pass.

Ichiban doesn't even get to fight the final boss in that one, he might as well be as much a part of that story as he is in Pirate Yakuza or Kiwami 3 — just a preorder bonus character.
