@AkaBateman The Soviet Union was by far the "best at sports". East Germany had more Olympic medals than the US in 1988 and 1976. Football was extremely popular in both countries. East Germany qualified one and the Soviet won a EURO. Winning a world cup is extremely hard.

@idahofamfarm1 Difference in maturity of the game. Back in the 30s Austria, Czechoslovakia and Hungary were powerhouses on the continent due to early adoption of professional football. Scotland was a force to be reckoned with. Urugay won 2 world cups.

@NimaTavRood He did what he was hired to do: Make the stars feel good and not bother them too much with things like tactics. Brazil's talent level is shocking compared to earlier times but still far ahead of Italy's. Probably the worst manager FIGC could hire.
