@ed_pawson, member of the #RE Policy Unit, spoke at the @RelMedCentre's panel, discussing RE's role in boosting religious literacy, outlining how a Religion & Worldviews approach can address many of the division issues raised in the "Questions of Hope and Hate" report. ⬇️
A historic moment as RE is set to be included in the National Curriculum.
Watch Dr Vanessa Ogden, who will lead the staged approach to its introduction, explain why every young person deserves high-quality RE 👇

#RE has faced decades of neglect, leading to an ongoing shortage of trained teachers and a postcode lottery of provision.
Including RE in the national curriculum is now an opportunity to end this.

On @BBCR4Sunday a DfE spokesperson said that RE trainee numbers are up — true, due to the bursary they’ve now scrapped!
The rise proves incentives work.
Removing them will undo the recovery.
Wonderful to be at the #LabourConference2025 faith reception & hear @SeemaMalhotra1 talk about the importance of high quality RE for all pupils & how it supports dialogue in communities, breaking down barriers & helping us to understand each other better. @NATREupdate@RECouncil
Another great day at #LabourPartyConference we have had so many positive discussions about the importance of high quality RE for all pupils in all schools. Really pleased to be representing @ReThinkREnow@NATREupdate and @RECouncil
Our wonderful research officer, @DeborahWeston has scrutinised RS GCSE data for England and Wales to help busy Heads of department complete their own analysis. Full report here https://t.co/fAJFBeAyVJ
A quarter of a million students take a GCSE in RS.
Despite this, half of those delivering the lessons mainly teach another subject.
Discussing the big questions in life is a vital part of young people’s education.
#Worldviews#TeamRE@KatieKates_84
GCSE RS remains one of the most widely taken subjects at KS4.
249,422 students took a GCSE RS this year.
We urgently need more specialist RE teachers to ensure every child gets access to high-quality RE.
