EXCLUSIVE: Vin Diesel pens an essay about #Cannes, "The Fast and the Furious" and why "popular cinema" is art.
"What that first 'Fast' film did, 25 years ago, was remind Hollywood of something it had quietly forgotten. Popular cinema, made with conviction and love, is not a lesser form of the art. It is the art in its most ancient and essential function, the story told to the whole community, the fire everyone gathers around.
Hollywood in 2001 had sorted its audiences by demographic. It had stopped believing that a single film could sit down with the whole world at once and mean something to all of them. We didn't accept that. A multiracial cast at the center of a global blockbuster. A definition of family that crossed every line the industry used to draw its maps. A story that said belonging is not inherited, it is built by the choices you make and the people you refuse to leave behind.
That argument resonated on every continent because it named something true. The hunger for family. For loyalty. For a table with enough chairs."

They should reveal in Fast Forever that Jakob Toretto survived his crash in Fast X. If for no other reason than to keep the possibility of John Cena returning for future projects like the tv shows and possible spin off movies open. He's too big of a draw to waste like they did...
I know that Vin Diesel is the face / mouthpiece of the franchise but they should use Jordana Brewster in that role more often. She's killing it in these interviews...
Jordana Brewster says her "Fast and Furious" character Mia "became more passive" over the franchise and she wants the last movie to "harken back to the first one."
"I want her to drive her story and not react to everything else around her. Agency, that's my biggest wish... In 'Fast Five', she is pregnant. She's helping them figure out what's next and jumping off buildings and leading the guys as they're pulling a safe through the streets of Rio. It is literally being a part of the action and not just standing by."

Jordana Brewster is a terrific ambassador for the Fast franchise and while I feel her character Mia hasn't always been used to her fullest potential I have a feeling that she is going to shine in Fast Forever...

Jordana Brewster likes to re-watch the "Fast and Furious" because "the chronology is so interesting. Like, what happened when?"
"My jaw dropped," she said about watching the first movie at #Cannes. "I don't think I ever fully appreciated the depth of Vin's character. He takes a lot of time with the scripts. The integrity of the characters matter to him. Dude, I get it. It does pay off."

Jordana Brewster had no idea "Fast and Furious" was getting a spinoff series on Peacock until Vin Diesel announced it earlier this week.
“It’d be fun to have me and my two kids, and they’re getting into all kinds of trouble — it’s almost like karma. It would also be a nice way of perpetuating the Brian character and his family legacy, but we’ll see.”

Vin Diesel gives Paul Walker’s daughter, Meadow Walker, an emotional hug as “The Fast and the Furious” celebrates its 25th anniversary with a screening at #Cannes.

I hope that Meadow Walker is in Fast Forever with a little bit bigger of a role this time. To me that would be a far better and more fitting tribute to Paul than trying to recreate his image again with some special effects trickery...
👀👆 @2Fast2Forever A thread on my guesses of what the announced Fast show could be about. Sorry for the link in a link. The original one was broken... can't wait to hear your speculation on this topic as well...
A thread of what I think the Fast & Furious tv show/shows could realistically be about. The key word being realistically. Cast availability, budget, stuff like that. For example there's no way we're getting a Hobbs & Shaw show. But here are the odds on a few I think could happen.
1. The Han show from @HertzBarry's book. I could see this with a slightly updated premise and MAYBE with Gisele added as well. Would Gal Gadot do a TV show for what they would probably be offering? Does Sung Kang even want to still be playing Han or do something new? 60% chance.
