Choose one:
1. A world full of healthy food, soil and people, clean air and water, birds in the sky, fish in the sea, community, joy and peace.
2. A world full of data centres and robots, pollution and waste, parking lots and power struggles, crime, fear and climate challenges.
"We can't build in the greenbelt! They exist to make sure our cities are dense and we maintain beautiful countryside!"
- Ah, so you must build a huge amount of housing in the city cores?
"Well, no"

@matheuscarvalhx Development vs. redevelopment. Those that profit from unsustainable development lobby for more of it; they push to reverse policies, and advocate for undoing sustainable initiatives. Many cities have removed bike lanes, undone growth boundaries, erased land protections.
Car dependency is a mandatory tax on your freedom and bank account. True fiscal conservatism is living in a walkable neighborhood where you donโt need a $40,000 depreciating asset just to buy groceries.
Redevelopment deserves more credit, attention, and incentives for it, especially on the multi-city and multi-region scale.
What city becomes sustainable without redevelopment? What sustainable transportation or supply chain system change is accomplished without redevelopment?
@pmeconature Right on. Displacement as waste transport and waste shifting often has pollution and waste of its own, which makes matters worse.
#ZeroWaste is the most sustainable way, and the sooner, the better.
Should cities be spending more time on where they are going to put waste in 10 years or on how they are going to eliminate waste completely in 10 years?
When we connect โdoing goodโ, โhelping othersโ and โmaking a differenceโ to sustainable redevelopment, we literally change our communities for the better in ways we can see, touch and experience.
@JamesMelville Unsustainable. Itโs more development enabling more development.
And the more that keeps getting built over nature, the more sustainable redevelopment will be needed to replace it.

Data centers are development. They enable and expand even more development, globally.
As with other development, data center development shifts control of land, resources, power, wealth; control of personal information too.
The solution people need is sustainable redevelopment.
