This is the message young girls receive when athletes like Sophie Cunningham use their platform to speak the truth in love.
Courage IS contagious. It sounds cliche, but it's true.
I’m so *****off that anyone thinks because there might only be a few males (1000 major medals & growing) who want to compete in women’s sport we ought to be ok with it! One Lance Armstrong or Ben Johnson! Why bother with Anti doping? When it affects men’s sport, cheating matters.
Trouble is, 'trans' isn't an adjective. 'Trans woman' is a compound noun meaning 'man who wants to be considered a woman.' If the individual being described isn't trans, he's simply a man, whereas a bespectacled woman remains a woman even if she's not wearing glasses.
I’m 16. I play because I love my sport and my team.
Watching @sophaller say it out loud — that girls shouldn’t have to give up fair competition or our privacy — meant more than she’ll ever know. When a WNBA star says it, maybe people finally listen.
I know what it’s like to have your voice on this treated like it’s hateful. It isn’t. Wanting a fair game and a private locker room was never hate. It’s just the truth, and I’m done being afraid to say it.
Thank you, Sophie, for going first. You made it easier for the rest of us.
JK Rowling wrote 'Mein Kampf' under the pseudonym 'Adolf Hitler'. She was able to do this because Richard Dawkins built a time machine for her. For more historical facts like these, please join BlueSky.
This is racism. Black women are not men. No demographic will be tested first. Black women in fact stand to benefit the most as it’s been predominantly black male DSD athletes stealing places on national teams from black women in their countries. Facts matter.
Megan Rapinoe never had to share a locker room with a man.
But she wants your daughter to.
Sophie Cunningham stated the obvious and earned the respect of millions of women.
Enough of this nonsense.
This was a difficult piece to write. It was also necessary.
I am one of the 8,711 victims warned that our attackers could be released early under Labour’s scheme. People should know who stands to benefit.
Malcolm James, then in his late fifties, kidnapped me in 2019, shortly after my fourteenth birthday. He held me for several hours and repeatedly sexually assaulted me.
I remained silent until Sarah Everard disappeared. She was abducted from a road that crosses the one from which I had been taken. I feared that the same men were responsible, and that my silence had allowed it to happen again.
James was convicted of five sexual offences against a child. He is a repeat offender with previous convictions, including for violence. I already believed his eight year sentence was inadequate. Now he may be released earlier still.
Andy Burnham has promised to review this scheme. He must exclude rapists, child sex offenders and repeat violent criminals.
I refuse to have spent longer securing justice than James spends in prison.
Stop misleading readers!
Neither Sophie Cunningham nor any other sane person has ever proposed banning “transgender athletes” from women’s sport.
“Transgender” is not a category in sports. It denotes a person’s feeling/belief.
It is indeed common sense to bar men from women’s sports events, and boys from girls’ sports events.
We are sick of media misrepresenting the positions of people who speak out to protect the female category.
We surveyed lesbian, gay and bisexual people. 94% felt uncomfortable being categorised under the LGBTQ+ umbrella. 87% felt uncomfortable being categorised as 'queer'. Here's what they said - and what we're doing about it.
"As a lesbian I feel marginalised and like I don't belong in a community that used to be very important to me. I feel ostracised and isolated." "It feels like they jumped on our coattails but somehow managed to grab the steering wheel." These are verbatim responses from LGB people in our survey.
LGB stands for lesbian, gay and bisexual - people who are same-sex attracted. TQ+ covers gender identity, which is a distinct thing. Organisations that attempt to serve both often end up serving neither well - and in practice, tend to prioritise TQ+ constituents at the expense of LGB people.
In 2021, the government abandoned the aggregate term BAME following the Inclusive Britain report, which found it failed to reflect the differing needs of those it covered. LGB Alliance is calling for the same approach to LGBTQ+.
Don't Call Me Queer is LGB Alliance's campaign for same-sex attracted people to have specific representation that actually serves their needs. Read our report and take action: https://t.co/G4wWzyaUTI
After 23 years, his wife is losing her husband, her attraction, and her marriage...yet she’s painted as cold-hearted for simply saying she’s not a lesbian and can’t pretend to desire a man who pretends to be a woman...
This is why these men deserve contempt, not acceptance...
Jolyon Maugham's "Good Law Project" has reported Sex Matters to the Charity Commission for being hateful. 🤦♀️

Sophie Cunningham is unafraid of standing up for women and girls.
Sophie Cunningham is unafraid of standing up for the truth.
Sophie Cunningham is the way.
Be more Sophie Cunningham
Sophie Cunningham responds to criticism over her recent comments to ESPN about wanting to protect women's sports from "biological men."
"I said what I said. I think it's kind of common sense.
When it comes just to protecting young girls in sport and women in sport, I feel very strongly about that. That's why you have Title IX.
That's why you have some of the greats in women's sports. If Title IX women's sports weren't protected, then you wouldn't hear about any type of women in sport.
I have never once said that I hated the trans community."
In her interview with ESPN, Cunningham had said:
"I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
Really hope 10th Health Secretary in 9 years will prioritise women's health issues that have been woefully sidelined, especially maternity care and birth trauma. She has a huge amount of data, reports, direct testimony and on-going inquiries to draw from. The APPG's 2024 report, the parents, the professionals @BirthTrauma, @masic_uk must be listened to.
