Reading Labour Members - tonight is the AGM via zoom. To allow our executive committee to continue the work they have done for the last two years, please support the following candidates.
Read the responses to this. A bureaucratic factional war by the party machine against its own membership. Hearing reports of single-digit CLP meetings, of zero delegates to conference—a party dying on its feet. Starmer and Evans intend to create a wasteland and call it peace.
There's not much to feel optimistic about politically but the incredibly low numbers turning up to today's @ProgressOnline conference give me hope. We had more people vote no confidence in Starmer in my local Labour Party than turned in to hear him speak today.
You’d think if your biggest-ever annual conference attracted a crowd that would be reasonably impressive for a Scottish Division Two football match, you might be more humble about disparaging other people’s grasp of popular politics. But apparently not.
they couldn't have won 'their' party back by being honest about their beliefs, so they had to lie and sail under a soft-left flag of convenience. Basically nobody's enthused by right-wing Labourism now, it's just vastly overrepresented in the PLP and press https://t.co/UVrEcL1ZuT
This could just be any dipshit centrist tweet from the last five years, it could be the founding speech of any number of failed centrist parties from Spring to Change UK.
This is intentional.
Starmer's strategy is to reject Labour's 2015 membership and by extension a significant number of Labour's voters
The gamble is that this brings in Lib Dem and Conservative voters, but even the Lib Dems have abandoned him.
2019 Labour voters wobble:
Starmer’s net approval dropping from net +8% to -11%.
Mainly driven by a 30-point drop in his net ratings amongst 2019 Labour voters (from net +40% to net +10%), with a third (34%) of 2019 Labour voters now disapproving of his performance
Tal Ofer, who got Starmer’s Iftar dinner cancelled after highlighting the organiser’s support for BDS, is shocked to find out Arsenal aren’t quite as morally abject as the Labour Party.
