A Mouth Full of Moonlight

The moon unhinged its silver jaw,
And smiled at every hidden flaw.
It tasted prayers left cold with dust,
Then feasted on abandoned trust.

The castle drank the evening whole.
Each tower rose from someone’s soul.
Its windows watched with hollow grace,
Remembering every forgotten face.

The dark does not arrive with screams.
It slips inside your sweetest dreams.
It kisses every secret scar,
Until you forget who you are.

The silence knows your oldest name.
It strokes your grief. It feeds the flame.
It wraps around your trembling skin,
Then softly asks to be let in.

We call them monsters. What a lie.
They learned our language just to survive.
Each one was born the moment we
Buried truth beneath the need to flee.

So tell me this before you run.
When morning comes, what have you won?
A quieter cage? A brighter room?
Every sun still answers to the moon.

Not every beautiful thing was made to comfort you.

Some were born to awaken the parts of you that refused to die.
