Private school vouchers are a $1 billion boondoggle siphoning our precious tax dollars away from public schools that are open to all children to private school …

Is philanthropy evolving at the same pace as the world around it? If not, what are some ways to ensure that philanthropic efforts adequately support grassroots movements?

@KARK4News@SarahHuckabee please STOP using our tax dollar$ to partner with companies that create weapons of war and hate crimes. Invest our taxe$ in humane diplomacy, PEACE and LOVE. Invest in jobs that invest in people not war.
🛑✊🏿💥Now is the time to join Black and Brown youth nationwide in calling on President @JoeBiden, Congress, and local governments to create #PoliceFreeSchools and permanently end the school-to-prison-and-deportation pipeline.

@McclaneVeronica@ArkansasEd Hoping our @ArkansasEd will aim higher than failure and adequacy in our public schools. Excellence, Equity, and World Class public schools for all students should be the standard, not the exception.
🚨🚨 Standardized Tests Measure Poverty! 🚨🚨
After news broke of the state takeover of Marvell-Elaine School District, I began to wonder how well Little Rock School District did while it was under state control.
As I looked at the data, it led me down a rabbit hold.
A 🧵 1/
P.S. I forgot to mention LRSD was under state control from 2015-19. Look back at the graph and you’ll see scores declined over that time period for all student groups. Things got worse overall.
Interestingly, Secretary Johnny Key (AR Dept of Ed at the time) had no Ed background.
If you want to examine any of the data yourself, you can access and download it from ADE's Database.
I don't think there is not an easy way to download the entire database at once. 😖
Public $$$ belong in public schools. Let's use it to fix them!

And circling back to the question that started this whole investigation...
How well did the state take over of Little Rock School District work out for improving test scores?
IT DID NOTHING!
ZIP! ZERO! NADA!
They did nothing to narrow the race gap either. Oops!

Stop pretending that standardized tests measure learning outcomes or the effectiveness of teachers.
The data is clear.
STANDARDIZED TESTS MEASURE POVERTY!
Using test scores in any punitive measure is plain wrong.

How can we expect a child to be able to give 100% at school when they are often just surviving?
Hunger, family matters, unstable home life, parents always working, needing to take care of their own brothers/sisters, etc.
A school voucher won't fix any of those things.
