“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.”
Romans 11:33-36
The ancient Galilean Jewish wedding custom is the exact cultural blueprint Jesus used to describe His relationship with the Church. It perfectly mirrors the timeline of the remaining feasts, moving from the sudden gathering to the final celebration.
Here is how the distinct stages of the ancient wedding ritual map directly to end-times prophecy:
1. The Betrothal (Erusin)
The groom traveled from his father’s house to the bride’s home to negotiate a purchase price (mohar). Once agreed upon, they drank a cup of wine to seal the covenant. The couple was legally married, but the bride stayed behind to prepare her wedding garments, while the groom returned to his father's house.
The Prophetic Parallel:
Jesus left His Father’s house, came to Earth, and paid the ultimate price for His Bride (the Church) with His blood [1 Corinthians 6:20]. He then drank the cup of the New Covenant and returned to heaven to prepare a place for us [John 14:2].
2. Preparing the Chambers
The groom returned to his father’s estate to build a new bridal chamber attached to the father's house. This construction had to meet strict standards. The groom could not simply decide when it was finished; only the father could inspect the room and give the official approval that it was ready.
The Idiom: When asked when he was going to fetch his bride, the groom’s standard cultural reply was: "Only my father knows." This directly matches Jesus's exact phrasing regarding the timing of His return [Matthew 24:36].
3. The Sudden Fetching (Nissu'in)
Once the father gave approval, the groom gathered his groomsmen to surprise the bride, usually in the middle of the night. As the wedding party approached the bride's village, a member of the party would blow a shofar (trumpet) to alert her to go out and meet him. The bride had to keep her oil lamps burning and be ready to flee at a moment's notice.
The Prophetic Parallel: This is the Feast of Trumpets (The Rapture). Christ returns unexpectedly with a shout and the blast of a trumpet to catch away His Bride in the air [1 Thessalonians 4:16-17].
4. The Closed Door & Seven Days
The groom carried the bride back to his father's house. They entered the bridal chamber, and the father shut the door behind them. They remained hidden inside the chamber for exactly seven days to consummate the marriage. Outside, the world went about its business.
The Prophetic Parallel: While the Bride is hidden away in the Father's house, the Earth experiences the 7-year Tribulation period (the 70th week of Daniel), corresponding to the "Days of Awe" between the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement.
5. The Marriage Supper
After the seven days, the groom led his bride out of the chamber, completely unveiled, to introduce her publicly to the community. This initiated a massive, joyous celebration with family and friends.
The Prophetic Parallel: This is the Feast of Tabernacles (The Millennial Kingdom). Christ returns to Earth publicly with His Bride [Revelation 19:11-14] to inaugurate the Marriage Supper of the Lamb [Revelation 19:7-9], establishing His 1,000-year feast and reign on Earth.
I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! And its rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns... He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. (Rev 19:11 -13)
Israel is God’s Vessel of Redemption
Jesus is Jewish for a reason.
Why do we struggle so much with the idea that God chose a particular people through whom He would bless all peoples?
From Abraham onward, God’s plan has always been universal blessing through a particular nation.
The covenants were given to Israel.
The Messiah came through Israel.
The gospel went out from Israel.
And the kingdom will be restored to Israel.
Gentiles are not blessed apart from God’s covenant purposes for the nation He chose. We are grafted into their promises, not the other way around.
Paul says that Israel’s rejection brought reconciliation to the world. What then will their acceptance be but life from the dead? (Romans 11:15)
Israel’s restoration is not a side issue. It is bound up with the resurrection hope of the nations.
Jesus is not ashamed of the people He elected.
He rejoices to be the Son of David, the King of Israel, and the head of the nation chosen to mediate blessing to the ends of the earth.
When He returns, Israel will finally fulfill her calling under His leadership, and all nations will be blessed through her.
Jesus lived, died, and rose again to make these things certain.
Believing in Jesus means believing He will fulfill the things He and His Father promised in the Law and Prophets.
Maranatha!
A lot has been said about the thief on the cross; one of them being that he escaped by the skin of his teeth.
He’s nailed to a cross next to JESUS and it’s apparent the Holy Spirit is working conviction in his heart because he comments
“we’re getting what we deserve.”
The Bible doesn’t mention his name or anywhere else but at that scene of the crucifixion;
I’m imagining at that point he’s already heard about the news of JESUS
and all the miracles JESUS had done.
The thief at this point with probably just minutes to live empties himself of pride and humbles himself;
and makes a statement led by faith and revelation of who JESUS CHRIST is.
He speaks those famous 9 words:
“Lord, remember me when thou comest into Thy Kingdom.”
Luke 23:42 KJV
He refers to JESUS as Lord, meaning he understood the authority JESUS has.
When the thief says “your kingdom”
he also understands JESUS is a king and his kingdom is not yet of this world.
He also says, “remember me”
meaning he also believes by faith that death is not the end.
Of course JESUS recognizes his faith and promises he will be with Him in paradise that same day.
Like I said, lots has been said about this thief and his encounter with the Savior.
He looked at his condition and then looked at the only one who could change his condition but also his destination.
I see a lot myself in the thief,
I led a life of sin and you could say I ran from the Lord for many years;
I knew that if I died without JESUS I would get what I deserve.
But by the Grace of GOD, I was also extended mercy.
GOD saved me, not because I was good or because I went through an intense religious training, or I sacrificed my flesh to gain acceptance from Him.
No, GOD saved me just like HE did that thief.
I had exhausted all my get out of jail cards and I was to be honest just tired of living.
I called out JESUS to save me once more; except this time I said “I surrender all my life to you; I’m tired of running, take my life and do what you will.”
My downfall all those years was that my foolish pride caused me to think I can get right by my own works.
I finally understood salvation; I understood the Gospel; I finally believed only JESUS could do for me what I could not do, just as that thief on the cross.
You don’t need to get perfect with GOD; you don’t even need to get your life together and just come to JESUS as you are;
I promise you;
you will NEVER be the same.
“that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:9-10 KJV
"Self"
Deny it!
And He summoned the multitude with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
~Mark 8:34
“He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them. Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.” — Psalms 147:4-5
This is so cool!
This BLUE MOON on 05/31/2026 is the EXACT CENTER of this years BLOOD MOONS!
Jesus said the SIGNS would be in the SUN, MOON & STARS as we continue to WATCH!
