@timhodgsonmt I'm not a fan of this govt's anti-democratic legislation, uilitarian foreign policy, or dumbed down Comms.
But this is a proper post. It's promotional, yes, but politically neutral and informative. And it doesn't have a 6 year old target audience.
More of this please.
Important to remember: the killing of soldiers is not terrorism. It’s legitimate warfare against an occupying force. That’s just international law, folks.
In the Myanmar genocide case currently before the ICJ, Britain, France, Denmark, Germany, Canada and the Netherlands said that targeting children was indicative of genocidal intent. None of them have commented on Israel’s targeting of children, on which the UN commission reported. But the issue will come back to bite them.
@MarkKersten Carney plans (explicitly) to expand Canada's weapons and war tech manufacturing sector to become a major international supplier.
Authoritarians make good potential customers. But you can't lecture them on human rights during the sales pitch.
How Israeli apartheid works in the West Bank:
You are a Palestinian standing on the land of your ancestors.
An Israeli soldiers walk up to you and says, "this is a closed military zone, because I just said so."
They arrest you because your presence on your own land is illegal because a soldiers said so five minutes ago.
You are arrested and imprisoned on "administrative detentions charges." You cannot presence a legal defense because the crime you committed is a secret.
You are taken off to prison. You are tortured, starved and raped in prison, for months. You get your day in a military court in 6 months, where the conviction rate is 99.7%. The administrative detention is renewed.
You are tortured, starved and raped for another 6 months. Etc.
This is universally considered occupied Palestinian territory where the Israeli army's presence is illegal under international law.
Just imagine if a foreign military came to your town today and threw you out of your own home. This is what you're watching happen to Palestinians.
B’Tselem urgently calls on governments and international institutions to act now, using all means available under international law, to prevent the forcible displacement of Palestinian civilians, collective punishment and extensive unlawful destruction in Hebron. Israeli leaders are openly declaring their intentions, and actions on the ground have already begun.
Following the shooting near Hebron on 23 October, in which two Israeli soldiers were killed, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz openly announced plans to forcibly displace Palestinian residents and carry out extensive destruction in the area.
In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared: “We will apply in the cities the successful offensive model we implemented in the refugee camps.”
That same model has already displaced more than 33,000 Palestinians in the northern West Bank. Now, Israeli leaders are threatening to bring the same mass displacement and destruction to Hebron.
Implementation has already begun. Israeli forces imposed a cordon on Hebron and Halhul, while the Civil Administration began demolishing Palestinian structures in the neighborhood of Farsh al-Hawa. At the same time, Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced the establishment of four new settlement farming outposts in the South Hebron Hills.
Israeli leaders are openly announcing plans for collective punishment and acts that could constitute war crimes. These plans echo Israel’s devastating operations as part of the genocide in Gaza and mark a further escalation of its ongoing campaign of ethnic cleansing as part of the Elimination Project in the West Bank: the systematic dismantling of Palestinian collective life while expanding settlements and entrenching permanent Israeli control.
The world cannot stand by as Israel continues its assault on Palestinians, waiting for yet more neighborhoods to be emptied and erased before intervening, despite what we have already witnessed in Gaza and the northern West Bank. Governments and international bodies must act now to prevent these crimes and protect Palestinian civilians.
Every Zionist on this app is spewing Islamophobia, inciting hatred and violence against Muslims, even using AI to manufacture fear and demonize us. Yet somehow, u and I are expected to drop everything and make fighting antisemitism our priority.
Absolutely fucking not.
My priority is to live long enough to see justice served and Israel held accountable for its crimes. I want to see it happen in my lifetime.
@RahRahLara@SweetBCBoi@sarobertson_ if we're just going give up our Canadian values grounded in universal human rights then I don't really see the point of being Canadian. We can just go ahead and join the United States.
@SenRickScott Carney is the opposite of a communist. He has no ideology. He's transactional. Like Trump. He just doesn't care about human rights violations.
India's Modi had a Canadian assassinated on Canadian soil and 2 years later Carney was formally negotiating a trade agreement with him.
Piers Morgan: “So our friends don’t need to be transparent about their nuclear capability?”
Will Chamberlain: “Yeah, it’s good to be America’s friend…”
Piers: “But our enemies do?”
Will: “Yes.”Piers: “Wow.”
Will: “That’s exactly how it works. Because we have the B-2 bomber and they don’t.”
There it is. Israel gets the secret nuclear arsenal, the NPT free pass, and unlimited U.S. support while Gaza is levelled—because “friendship” and American B-2s. Everyone else has to play by the rules or get bombed. Totally not hypocrisy. Just how the world works when you control the biggest stick.🙄
@NBCNews Sure. The WEST BANK Palestinians, who have been passive and obedient for decades, are going to antagonize their Israeli captors. Right now. Right before Israel votes.
