@EricCMeadows Despite having political motivations it summarizes the core tenets of Christianity in a simple to understand manner and prevents misunderstandings or interpretations that could arise later, and how far can interpretation go before it counters the Gospels?
@AUveritas The Bible isn't an index of itself. Scripture says the Church is built on the foundation of the Apostles (Ephesians 2:20) and the faith was delivered 'once for all' (Jude 1:3). Since the Apostles are gone, the foundation is finished. This is how false theology like Mormons emerge
@AUveritas No, the councils didn’t make it God-breathed they verified it similar to the Supreme Court verifies the Constitution the Constitution or in this case the Gospels remain the ultimate authority with councils just putting a boundary to prevent unholy teachings such as Gnosticism
@AUveritas The era of the Apostles is over, adding anything to it beyond what is stated to come in Revelation changes the foundation of what Christianity is, The Council of Carthage and The Council of Hippo under guidance by the Holy Spirit selected the canon that was God-breathed
@AUveritas Jude 1:3, Hebrews 1:1–2, Revelation 22:18–19, simply the Apostolic Era is over and the authority the Apostles had to write the Bible is simply over now since the eye witnesses of Christ are no longer here. It means we trust the finished, eyewitness foundation God gave us
