that’s all smoke & mirrors since the same companies keep tearing down work they have no part in and YouTube does nothing but facilitate it. This guilty until proven innocent mindset is absurd and one of the biggest things keeping me from endorsing the platform. This must change.

to PROVIDE OWNERSHIP OF WHAT THEY’RE CLAIMING. At the very least, make some kind of consequence. Most creators who actually have their content stolen are terrified to claim their content because of the dozens of messages that tell us the dangers of a false strike, but apparently

that is the bulk of the issue, but YouTube does make their own policies to carry out that law. Maybe don’t take down entire videos and threaten channels over a company who says they own a book written in 1985, or whatever it is they’re claiming since you don’t even ask accusers

It’s as if some guy can just walk in to a courtroom and tell a judge “this man stole my property” so the judge immediately seizes the property and threatens prosecution AND THEN asks the original accuser what was stolen to begin with. I understand that US law is antiquated and

If someone has been making videos for years, for a living, and has millions of people who watch their content, maybe there should be a single step for bad actors provide the material they “own” and feel was stolen before they just rip the video down and treat me like a threat.

This is absurdly frustrating. The only recourse I have against someone who bold face lies to fuel their selfish motives is to send them my legal address and phone number. Here’s a crazy idea, YouTube; how about, before you take down a 5 hour video, you make them provide ANY proof
