Speaking of Karmelo’s girlfriend, why didn’t she testify on Karmelo’s behalf? Why didn’t any of his “friends” testify for him? The only person who spoke up for Karmelo during the trial was his mother.

And through all of my investigating, reporting, and interviews over the past year, not a single student or parent stood up on Karmelo’s behalf. Nearly everything I heard was negative, including from a local mall security officer who told me he knew Karmelo because of his behavior.

The trial is over. Now I’m going to tell people every detail I learned over the last year.
