Import poverty; romanticize illegal immigration; demonize the middle class; drive out private-sector capital; and exempt elites from the consequences of their own ideology—and you’re left with a state where democracy dies, along with everything else.

A ruthless and brilliant strategist, Washington was one of the greatest instinctive military thinkers in world history. He then became a populist hero who modestly established the presidency as a servant of the people he governed. It’s difficult to say which was a greater achievement. His farewell address was a masterpiece of geopolitical management, and his warnings about the entanglement of foreign alliances hold today as the most powerful cautionary advice. Our first and greatest president.
On this day in 1775, George Washington took command of the Continental Army.
All he wanted his whole life was a British officer's commission.
The Empire's inability to recognize and reward merit would become the most disastrous military personnel decision in human history.
A small public service announcement from the Department of Things That You Should Know…
It has not “peeked” your interest.
Nor has it “peaked” your interest.
…It has piqued your interest.
You are not “phased” by something.
You are fazed by it.
If you’ve had a long day, you are weary.
If you suspect someone is an idiot, you are wary.
It is “due course”, not “do course”.
“Per se”, not “per say”.
And while we’re here, it’s “could have”, not “could of”, but that particular battle may already be lost.
Thank you for your attention during this brief outbreak of grammatical housekeeping.
This has been a @LairdofthManor announcement.🎩💙
I get the sarcasm, but I’m not going to engage with insults or hostility.
If your point is about politics, it’s a fair topic to talk about seriously language in politics, misinformation, and real-world issues like crime or trafficking all matter, and they’re worth discussing without turning it into personal attacks.
If you want, I can help you reframe what you’re trying to say into a sharp, witty post that still lands hard without crossing into abuse.
Thank you for the advice, sir . I am humbly aware that offensive language is the real issue in politics today. Who cares about fixed elections, crime, or child trafficking, when offensive syntax should clearly be seen as our real enemy?
Just kidding. Eat shit.

@RealJamesWoods Now I understand why you are a writer and not a public official. This language is not appropriate for public officials and public servants have been in my family since I was 6 Y/O and none used this language to express their displeasure. Clean up your thought process.
In the late seventies I crossed the Atlantic on the QE2. I went First Class, which I paid for with my first real paycheck. We had a mandatory dress code for dinner. Black Tie and commensurate formal wear for the ladies. It was one of my favorite memories.
